Why i dont like a HEMI
You do know that if you really wanted to you can manually shift the truck with the auto right? I know a few guys that are turning out nice numbers at the track that manually shift it with the auto.
okay...for 2010 you can't get a a hemi with a 6sp, in any dodge truck, nor is thier a 4.7 with a 6speed.
in the 3rd gen 3/4 ton hemis, you could get a hemi with a 6sp, i own one, but, thiers no speed, or accleration built into this package, your never going to out drag any one with a hemi automatic.
a 6sp is by no means slow, its built for power and tourque and better mpg than automatic, as for off road, a automtic is better, and yes, I prefer a 6sp manual.

Alright since everyone loves the automatic so much, who wishes they made a manual in a HEMI? I sure do and yes i do realize there is more than one gear in a automatic. And no i dont drive a truck that makes me changes gears 100 times a day. This is a personal preference. I have had a corvette, toyota, jeep wrangler, all manual transmissions and i love it. Im not looking to race anyone i just want the power of a hemi in a 6-speed, and it makes me sad they dont have one.
I think a manual would be fun, but go to a local dragstrip and witness for yourself that everything has turned to automatic. With today's integration of computers and adjustable shifts at adjustable WOT shift points, an automatic will SMOKE a manual anywhere, anytime. Had to throw that out there.
SOOOOO, with that said, a local here has a 2006 5.7L that tows everything, everywhere, everyday lol. So what fits the bill in towing? A manual transmission. a Tremec T56 6-speed to be exact. Good friend of mine, I'll hunt him down and snap some pics sometime. It was out of a junked SRT-10. The motor had already been janked

I wish these trucks had manual trannies on them. An automatic is nice when you have your hands full, but usually when I'm driving, I try to focus more on the task at hand than eating or talking on the phone or doing other things. I also think that manuals are much funner to drive.
Edit: I also know that if I were able to have two identical versions of my truck, except one as a manual and one as an automatic, the manual would win in a race. Beings that I can't control my shifts near as well with the auto, when my truck goes from 2nd to 3rd, it hits a dead spot and takes about 500-700 rpms to recover.
I also don't much care to manually shift with the shift lever, because I'm scared of throwing my truck up into reverse.

Even trucks (you know big rigs) are going Automatic. A Good Auto-tranny is superior to a manual in quite a few ways. They are faster, more efficient etc. Plus with computer monitoring etc they are more likely to last. Manual trannys and clutches take mega abuse in fleets.
Ever see the new UPS, Fed-Ex trucks ? Some are getting Mercedes motors, but they also come with Cummins. They fly in the right hands(or foot).
Pre-boost with both feet on peddles and from a dead stop and with minimal weight they'll wake up 75% of drivers at a light. Going up hills it's not even close, especially from a dead stop. Any rental truck, small or large ? Never going to see manuals either.
Give me a good, strong, sophisticated 5 or better yet 6 speed Auto trans and it'll out shift, out accelerate any of your manuals. Unfortunately Dodge doesn't have one
Allison trannys are the best I've driven.
BTW I drove a brand new International Pro-star sleeper with 400 miles on it. Damn thing had a Eaton Fuller UltraShift 10-Speed Fully Auto and a Cummins with 500+ hp. Damn thing flew and was not governed til 85mph(that's as far as I pushed it) Our fleet has 10sp Eaton manual tranny and 385hp felt like a turd in comparison, literally !
Familurize yourself with a good , rapid shifting, Auto someday. You'll be surprised

Not gonna lie you have a point, But there is always ways around that with a manual trust me, unless you like to grab boobies while your driving alone lol. But i just started this post because I know if that made a HEMI in a manual tranny it would be a good seller.

If you can't eat a chease burger, drink a coke, text on your black berry, yell at the radio and drive a manual transmisson, you should not be driving a automtic, period.
You have 0 control over your truck with a automtic, none, a manual gives you more control by allowing you to engage or disengage the clutch, a automatic can't tell when the road is icey, can't disengage power to the drive wheals.
I bet if we went back to drum barkes, no seat belst no abs and stright 6 engines and up the speed limits, less people would die in trafic accidents.
The more safety and convinance crap put into cars, the less people know how to drive.
Dodge makes more money putting crap automatics into trucks....
