Question?
alrighty.....basically backspacing is the amount of space there is between the back of the wheel...think of a deep dish wheel and where the spoke are placed...where the section of the wheel that bolts up to your hub, the more back space you have, the more tucked in your tire will be under the fender, because there is more wheel behind the mounting point. the less backspace you have the more wheel is out side, thus pushing your wheel/tire setup out more, making it look like a roller skate. hope this makes sense.
yup, like mmstar said... backspacing is the distance from the "pad" of the wheel (the part that touches the hub) to the inside edge of the rim.
i think the factory backspacing was about 4.5?

I think the backspacing on the factory 20" rim was a little less than 4.5. That's the reason a lot of suspension kits tell you you need new aftermarket rims with atleast 4.5" of backspacing. When I first got on the site Hammer let me know that none of dodge's factory rims had that kind of backspacing when I was looking into a lift.
so for a 2 inch leveling kit i need a 4.5 backspacing tires which is what a dude told me, so to make sure i understand the high the number the more the tire is tucked un the fender, so a 0 backspacing would be better for a larger wider tire?
