Default Which shocks/struts?

I have an 07 QC 4x4 1500. I am getting the 2.5" top gunz front leveling kit. I also need new shocks/struts. Which shocks/struts should I get? I never take my truck off-road, but I live in Michigan so the pot holes are pretty bad. I also do not know if I should get 2" longer struts or just keep the stock size strut? I have searched, but some people say no, some say yes, so I dont know what to do?

its the weekend, people might not be around etc.....plus so some searching. Thats how I get 90% of all my awnsers is by searching the forums and doing ALOT of reading. You can get the stock size because of when I did some searching I found that on 06-08 trucks the front suspension set up is a coil over set-up so you do not need longer struts at all. Best of luck to you

If you are going to install new struts along with leveling spacers, your MUCH better off just going with the Bilstein lift or the Rancho Quicklift that has the lift built into the strut housing. it lifts the spring perch up rather than over extending your upper balljoints to cram the upper spacer in.

You CAN get away without longer struts, but there are consequences. The PROPER way is to install new struts. So, to say you don't need them is not entirely true.

Check out Moe's Performance for the lift struts I am referring to. they run like $350 shipped. Same price as if you were to buy spacers and add new struts, PLUS, it's better for the suspension geometry and doesn't bind the upper balljoits like the spacers themselves would do.

thank you for the replies. i checked out the rancho quicklift and everything looks good except it doesn't say how much it lifts the front end. how much of a lift is it adjustable to? which is a better kit? the bilstein or rancho? how much can the bilstein lift? thank you.

Rancho is adjustable in 1/2" increments from 1"-2.5".
Rancho's are deff. a nicer shock and a lil smoother.
Bilsteins are still a great shock, but are more for budget minded guy.
Not sure of the exact info on the bilsteins if they go increments like theRancho's but they lift 2" i believe.
I've been wanting those Rancho's.

This is the bilstein kit correct?
http://moesperformance.com/index.php...ducts_id=12457

It looks sweet, I would like to know for sure its a 2" lift too, before buying. The Bilstein shoud be a better ride than stock though right?

yeah, that's the kit for the Bilsteins.
great improvement over the OEM struts, but not as agressive for offroad like the Rancho's would be and the Bilsteins are known for being a stifffer ride than Rancho's. If your soley a paveent queen, that Bilstein kit is hard to beat!

yeah, but i think they are either 0 or 2". i found nothing on their site, but on one of their retailers sites it says 0" OR 2" ride heights. No in betweens like the Rancho's.

Also, Bilsteins site says those are for better handling in heavy hauling and mild off road just as I described.
