Unhappy The DMH is Dead!

So I am on my way home tonight from work and am behind a landscaping truck. Well, he goes over a bump and what comes flying out but a metal gas can right infront of me. I am only a couple car lengths behind him so I either have to a) swerve right but there is a retaining wall there, so that is no good, b) swerve left into traffic, again not happening, or c) try going over it while slamming the brakes. I chose c, hit the brakes and hoped for the best. Luckily it managed to bounce right under the truck (what are the chances) and not cause any body damage. Not so lucky is that it took out the DMH cutout. Must have bounced up while under the truck and f'ed up the motor and plate on the cutout. Now I am stuck with a cutout that doesn't work. Needless to say I am pretty pissed.

Oh, and if you are wondering why I didn't follow the truck, the gas can was stuck under the truck and I couldn't drag it along under me bc god forbit it sparked and lit. Then I would have had something to really be pissed about.

If anyone has a 3" DMH cutout for sale, let me know. Clearly I am in need of one.

Damn that really sucks man, id rather of it taken out something under the truck instead of coming through the windshield and taking out my face. Have you thought about one of those cheaper raceland cutouts to replace it? I know those DMH's are a lil pricey. Any chance insurance would help out?

Insurance is unfortunately a no go, they said no already. I like the dmh so hopefully I can find someone selling one. The raceland one doesn't do it for me, I like having a switch wired into the cab.

Wow! JATO! Think of the acceleration! Sucks, but it sounds like you lucked out, all things considered.

wow that sucks, I think you said your DMH was clamped on, correct? It should be easy to replace in that case, just a PITA that it had to happen

I think I am going that route too, that way if the motor dies for any reason, i can swap easily as opposed to having it welded..

It was clamped on, luckily I never got around to welding it all together yesterday when I swapped mufflers. The dump pipe was not damaged too bad but the motor is done.
