I dont think the 03's are going to have an issue but the 04's on up with a Superchips and the 05's on up wih the superchips or DSP might as those years have supported trans control and both of the tuners raise the line pressure in the trans.

Depends on the tuner. Diablosport does not increase firmness and I don't believe SC does either (beta maybe??)
I see no adverse side effects if that's the case. Those tuners just increase shift points, not firmness as of right now.

Mike says HERE that there are no firmness settings. Even if there were settings within the tune, going for a little more firmness shouldn't be an issue.

i had the same concern as you at first. this was suggested to me by Denny at Sharadon and Andre at Edge. i told him i was running a DSP, he told me not to worry because neither DSP or Superchips increased line pressure.

and as for killing a tranny. if you are monitoring your temps you will be fine, and it wont blow anything up. and this will actually decrease slipping more than anything. worst case scenario: your tranny doesnt like the increased pressure. it shifts weird, probably throws a code or two. you take it out, reset the pcm, and go on your way.

Glad this subject came up. Nice mod work Ol-Dirty. I installed the resistor that came with my Transgo HD kit a year and a half ago since both Superchips 3714 and newer 3865 did nothing for my 03 tranny (Special girl again / Greg) so for me (going against the Transgo Instruction booklet) it has had no negative effects, so far, coupled with the 03 TMR delete mod my tranny works very well at 225K. No issues at all and I hammer it up to six grand RPM at least once a week.

What does your 03 "feel like" with the mod?
I know it's subjective but, is this mod worth doing?
I have the TMR delete and thought that worth while.
I know both these mods are doing dissimilar things but, does the resistor mod change things roughly like the TMR delete?
I guess what I'm basically asking is if this resistor mod worthwhile?
Impressions please.

ok just installed it and took it for a 10 minute drive around town and highway.... at first my trans was shifting weird, i guess it had to get used to the new pressure, but after a few up and down shifts it worked itself out and theres definetly a difference both on normal driving and WOT. the shifts seem quicker and smoother and it seems to down shift faster and smoother when i was cruising around 40mph and punched it. so far seems like an awesome mod. ill hook up my sc 3865 and try to log my trans temps so i can see where it is running after driving around for a while. ill try to do it during the week sometime and ill post the results.

If the tuner supports the trans and gives you a more firm/crisp shift it raises the line pressure within the tune. There may not be a user adjustment but they do raise it within the tune. Superchips has flat out said not to use the resistor that comes with the transgo kit because of the additional pressure. DSP is the same way.

This IS NOT a mod I would do with a vehicle that has the trans support from either of the tuners unless you know exactly how much they raise the line pressure within thier canned tune, how much adding the resistor raises it and how much the trans can handle.

I didn't notice much with the resistor added as I installed it at the same time as the Transgo Kit, like I said before I disregarded the "don't install if Tuner instruction" since SC does nothing for the 03 IMO. i did consult other 03 owners who did it without issues (Calgary Mr. Hemi). Truckin 151 has a good point about line pressure especially if the 04-05's have new SC tranny adjustmenys. I say for 03 model do it and see what the difference is, you can always disconnect. When I did the 03 TMR delete I didn't notice much at all except maybe more kick when using 2nd gear prime but I don't like using that unless I have too chew something.
