When gas was $4+ a gallon.

The price doesn't seem unreasonable for it. Truck prices have been climbing back up over the last year.

My rule of thumb: NEVER PAY ASKING PRICE! It's guideline, not a rule.
They will work with you if they really want to sell the truck. My guess is that in this economy, they dont have people lined up at the door to buy $20-25k vehicles.

id bring up the fact that they just brought out a new body style. maybe a that can be used as some leverage. but im not good at these things either i got SCREWED on my truck but thats the last time ill be impatient buyin a vehicle. shop around, maybe bring up another lot that has another vehicle of interest and ask why should i buy yours for more. just sayin

$19,500 would be a great price. My 08 has 32K miles already because I drive 72 miles a day round trip to work. The previous owner may have had the same situation. It looks nice and being a Laramie, it should be nicely optioned.

well i went and looked at it today and they're trying to be real stubborn with the price. i acted like I wasnt overwhelmed by the truck at all as it was really really nice... i kinda just told them i found better deals out there and i dont think i wanna spend that much more just for some buttons... i told them to call me if they were willing to come down in price... i do want it though... just don't know how to do it from here... they said its priced at wholesale.. i find that hard to believe...

Tell them you like their dealership and was going to use them for service, speak to the sales manager when all else fails first. This is a stategy that worked for me. I was able too get a thousand knocked off, this way. Also used vehicles have less wiggle room than new ones. more money is made with used than with new btw. You would be floored how much one vehicle can make sellers in a six year period. btw. good luck

Ditto Hammer. My sticker was 38,500 and got off the lot under 24 (lot across the street had the same truck with 800 miles on it for 27k). I'd say you could get this truck for 20ish or lower depending on specs.

Edit: I actually got 1000 extra off for financing through the dealer. I paid it off in 7 payments and got it financed elsewhere at a lower rate.

They'll call you back, they always call back. Give it a week and if its still on the lot they'll be calling you back with a better deal. When we were looking for the wifes new car we went to the dealer and they wanted way to much for her 2010 Nitro so we walked, later that night they dropped the price $2500 still said we were not going to pay that much, then a day or two later they called back and said that they would up the price of our trade in by $1500 plus take the $2500 off the price, still was a litle ify on it and by the next weekend they called back upped the trade in price by an additional $3000 and dropped the price $4000... so we took it

you see you are both fishing, you for the lower price, and them (the dealers) for their set price. It comes down too whose bait looks better. Stupid anology, but accurate.
