Default Buying a Ram: Have Questions

I am trading/selling my Dakota because it doesn't quite do everything I need it to do...

I want:
4wd
5/6 speed transmission
V8 (really would like the HEMI but I can't find 5/6speed ones)
4 door

I'm wanting to know if 136k is a lot to be on this truck, linked below, because I really don't feel like replacing something major in 100k.

Just some general info on Rams, particularly this model/year would be nice too.

08 4.7L RCSB RAMS are pretty quick, when equipped with a superchips programmer. My buddies got one n he smoked my other buddies 800hp QCSB diesel RAM.
Also, the 09-10 Hemi RAMS are pretty stout. I would have one if I could afford it.

Ur next option would b an 07-08 diesel RAM. U can get those with a 6 speed transmission.

Hope that helps bro.

Sup dude, RCSB here with a 6 speed tranny, 4.7... great engine has good power, more than u think, it surprised me... i run 34" tires and they pull them just fine and i dont even have a superchip, just a homebrew CAI (cold air intake) y pipe and muffler BUT they do make a hemi in a 6 speed, i think they made them in the 2500, but honestly if u want some muscle get the cummins....oh and it wont let me pull it up the truck on the link.....

I am not looking to spend the money for the Cummins, nor am I ready to deal with turbos. My current truck, 04 Dakota, has the 4.7 and with the automatic transmission it is plenty for me. I'm just browsing trucks right now, but I really like the way Rams look.

you wont find a newer hemi ram with a manual. dont even bother looking. manual is only in a couple 2500's and the 4.7's.

Doesn't the 2500's, with 5.7L, have a manual transmission?
However, like I said, the 08 Ram, with the 4.7L is a beast with a programmer. Just make sure u get one in RCSB form. I think anything with a QCSB is a lose-lose situation. You just have a really stout truck, if you go with a diesel QCSB.
Just my .02 worth.

I call BS on a RC 4.7 beating a tricked out QC cummins. If its true, your cummins friend either wasnt racing, or needs to learn how to drive (gas is on the right). If it had 600hp, its torque was probably over 900. Maybe he couldnt get traction? I dont know, either way dont count on that happening regularly.

To the OP, which would you prefer? Power or having a stick. Agreed the 08+ 4.7L are better, but they still lack significantly in the aftermarket industry. If you're willing to give up any tuneability and a decent bit of power (compared to the hemi) to get the 6 speed manual, thats your decision. Most hemi's (even though they're automatic) will still beat a 4.7 w/ manual.

My suggestion... find a RCSB hemi and deal with the automatic. You'll find the smile on your face from the power outweighs the desire to manually shift (this coming from a guy who's only ever owned manuals)

If I wanted a fast truck, I would get a RCSB 5.7L Toyota Tundra. It's not just the fact that I like to shift gears, it's that I like my trucks transmission to last as long as the truck.

then a 4.7 w/ manual will do you just fine. It wont have as much pickup as your dakota because the ram is heavier. I also hope you dont run into the 4.7 problems (i.e. headgaskets) but you already know about those cause you own one.

Are the autos in these trucks good? Am I wasting my time going with a manual?
