Default How much for LT install?

I am checking with local shops on how much they are going to charge to fit the stock cats to Pacesetter LTs and connect to a Magnaflow Y pipe. I only heard back from one shop so far and it seems pricey to me, $400 if I install the headers and $650 for them to install and do everything.

So how much did you pay? I know prices vary by location, but I am just trying to get a feel for what I should be expecting.

I did all the work on my LT install except cutting the cats back in (I extended the O2 wires though). Even though I have been welding since I was a kid, just too much for me without a vehicle lift.

They charged me $75 to take the cats and cut them off (I took the manifolds off and cut behind the cats, so I basically drove the truck there open behind the headers and with the manifolds to the cats in the bed), and weld them back in.

So yeah, I think they are gouging you a little bit!!!

That price is nuts. I did mine myself, it is a very easy install as long as you have basic tools to do the job with.

I thought that was pricey. I wish I could to it myself, but I do not have a welder or tubing bender. Man it was nice when I was in the Army and I had access to those things and didn't have to pay for them.

You can do the job without a welder or bender. You can buy high flow cats that fit on the lt's collectors then buy the pacesetter y pipe which fits onto the cats. I did mine like that since I sold my welder and there was no issue. Then when I had time later I took it to my dad's garage to weld it up. Ended up just tacking it and leaving the clamps bc I am going to be pulling it all off again in the near future to pull the trans. Never had a problem with it just being clamped together for a while.

That is what I might end up doing. I thought it would be cheaper to get a shop to do a couple bends and a few welds. It still may be. That was just one shop, I am calling back to a few others tomorrow and I will see what I am going to do.

I think you have to cut off it 2.5" inlet tube and weld on 3" to mate with the LTs.

To make the stock cats work you need to do this (well if you go with the pacesetter Y pipe)

Open the stock cats up to 3" in/out

Cut the Y just before the slip connects are for the collector and weld the cat in

For the O2 bungs, you need to buy at leaste 2 more to weld in behind the cat as the header collectors already have one bung welded in (buy a third if you are doing the wideband).

If you are keeping the stock size 2.5" pipe, you need to find some 3" in to 2.5" out pipe to weld it on. You should be able to retain the rear O2 bung though by keepeing the stock pipes. (although not to sure why you would want to keep the 3" out to 2.5" pipe back to 3" out restriction but your call)
