My wife has a JGC with the Hemi and I am pretty sure that I get the same or better mpg's on the highway than she does now.

This truck has always gotten good mpg's but the mods have made it even better. And before anyone asks, I have checked the overhead against hand calculations and it is always within a few tenths of a mpg.

i used to get 20 on the fwy when i first got the truck. after all my mods i get about 17-18. thats cruising at 70. so i believe you. im sure the extra weight of my 2500 knocks off that 2-4 mpg difference.

It seems like the non-mds trucks get better mpg's than the mds trucks.

its a proven fact that MDS gets worse mileage.

That right there makes me wonder why they even bother putting it on these trucks.

I don't know as if I'd take it to that level. Sure mds blows and most guys would agree. We will also agree that 4cyl is not enough power to keep a fullsize 5,000lb+ object at a steady speed on the highway. BUT, if we all return our trucks back to stock and enable mds, we would all see an increase in mileage and a decrease in performance.
Here's the deal, I was getting ~16-18mpg's on average before my Diablo tuner was installed. As soon as I enabled the 91oct tune my mileage went up. Then, when I disabled mds, the mileage went down. When Diablo released partial upshifts, my mileage went up again. Now, with superchips full trans control, my mileage crept up once again.
Just because your mileage may be better now with a tuner, doesn't necessarily put mds in the crapper for mpg's.
Even though mds sucks and lack powers and delays the transmission, MDS on a stock tune gets better mileage than mds disabled on a stock tune.
It's all with the benefits of the aftermarket handheld tuner such as Diablo and Superchips that allows us to achieve better results with the mds disabled.
sorry for getting carried away on that one, I kept it as short as possible....lol

and Teach, idle sounds nice..real nice.

Yep, mods make a good bit of difference, I'm pulling about 1200 lbs more than when the truck was stock, running 35" tires but between the CAI, Headers, exhaust, tuner, e-fan, gears, etc. I'm about right where I was MPG wise as when it was stock...
