CAI Cleaner question?
does anyone know a cheaper chemical to clean a K&N CAI? i meant to read what the chemical is in the cleaner, but i forgot to and threw it out. i always end up using up the cleaner b4 the oil. curious if anyone knows of a safe/effective replacement? thanks mike
I have always just used a mild soap and water. Take the filter off the intake obviously, clean with soap and water, make sure it is allowed to thoughly dry, re-oil, re-install. Always been more than effective for me. Done it with every car I own, dirtbikes, etc.
I have always just used the K&N kit...bought it years ago and have used it on 3 cars so far. Stuff seems to last forever if you don't over do it. I will need to buy more the next time round. Got 4 or 5 cleans out of it.
I've used dish washing liquid - Dawn is good.
I've used Orange Blast.
It's cotton gauze so any cleaner should work.
I've recently re-oiled mine with Marvel Mystery oil instead of the expensive K&N can.
