Whatever small amount of rain water may go into the ram air hole isn't going to do anything. The first bit will just get evaporated away due to the engine heat and the rest will burn off as soon as it hits the hot engine surface.
What do you think happens to the lower half of the engine while your driving? When you follow cars and it's raining, the mist inside the engine bay is quite a bit, more than I think you realize which is why it gets so dirty.
I suppose you could put a grate to slow down the slight amount of water that may go in, but it's not going to make any difference for longevity purposes. Blocking it right off will make that actual cowl hood look like a fake.
OEM makes cowl hoods all the time with no issue's. You'll be fine.

that scoop is not an intake. its an exhaust. right in front of the scoop is a low pressure zone which pulls hot air out of the engine bay.
pardon my 3rd grade drawing, but you get the idea. The air coming over the hood doesnt go into the scoop -- it goes over it, creating a low pressure zone right in front of the opening. In the case of hoods with a very tall opening (such as the venom hood), air is collected in the opening because of the taller opening

Like others have said, little to no water gets into the engine through the hood scoop. Plus, unless I'm just imagining this, I could have sworn I read, either on here or somewhere else, that the SRT hood scoop is designed to let hot air out, not cool air in.**
