Ok so i got a new (to me) 2007 Ram 2500 5.9 turbo diesel. I like it a lot and it doesn't seem to have any other problems other than the shifter. When i shift out of park, it is almost like i am not pushing the brake. It will come out of park but it is hard to pull down. I have brake lights so my next step was to removed the shifter cable from the trans and the shifter will move free up and down. I would guess that tells me the problem is in the trans. I dont know much about dodge, or diesel but i know my way around a car. Has anyone heard of or had this problem?
oh and it has 94k

Ya that is working properly and I can here it. Seems to me that the parking pawl is hanging up in the trans. But I don't know if there is anything else it could catch on. It will come out of park, just like I am on a big hill all the time
try putting the truck (from drive) in neutral then setting the parking brake then putting it in park. this should relieve the pressure on the parking pin, witch may be the problem
i know my truck is hard to get out of park if its on a bit of a hill, if i don't use the parking brake
Thanks for the tips but still no luck. Its not the converter, it is stil hard even when its not running. And I have tryed pulling it out of park up hill, down hill, flat ground, brake on, and even in and out of park in the same spot not running several times. Its always the same.
