Default 2008 Ram Quad Cab Sound System Upgrade

I have a 2008 Ram Quad with stock speakers. I have 47k on my girl and she has blown the driver door speaker for the SECOND time.

I am looking into replacing the front door speakers (for now, move on to others later). I have the 7 speaker infinity system. I was looking through Crutchfield and it shows three sizes will fit the front door. 5 1/4, 6 1/2 and 6x9.

Can anyone tell me WHICH size the stock speakers are? Also, if you have upgraded your system, what have you used, and how did the installation go?

Any ideas/thoughts would be great.

Thanks

The doors are 6x9 and with the infinity system, they are just mid-bass, no treble. The dash speakers are 3.5" and there are 3 of them.
For really good sound and direct hook-up, I would recommend the Mopar/Kicker upgrade. They are available from your dealer and eBay. I have a pair for my standard 4 speaker system and they sound great. Much clearer and a higher decibel per watt so they get louder then the stock ones. I'm going to get the add-on amp and sub for mine one day.
Go to this link and look up the part numbers. www.kicker.com/mopar

My 04 QC had the Infinity and in the rear doors it had 5.25s. I bought 6.5s to replace them with but they didnt fit. I bought a sheet of 1/2" MDF and cut trim rings and screwed them to the door and then the speakers to the trim rings and worked fine. As said, front doors are 6*9 although I replaced them with matching 6.5s.

I did an install on another 04 last weekend with the Infinity system. We ran new wire to the doors and left the OEM wiring alone.

I have also had a few people recommend Kicker DS60 speakers. They are a 6 1/2 speaker that fit with a bracket. Supposedly I can get them installed in roughly an hour. However, these are 2 way speakers, and I am not sure how they will work since there is no treble sent to the front doors in this truck setup.

I imagine that they would work ok, but I worry that it may cause problems with the speaker as they are made for highs and lows.

The biggest problem I have is cost. I have a budget of "under $100" as per the accounts payable department (a.k.a. wife). That said, the DS60's hit the mark at $70 from Crutchfield with all the needed accessories for installation.

Ive got Kicker DS650s in my front and rear doors. B ut I no longer use my OEM head unit or OEM Infinity amp as both were replaced long ago. I bought both my sets of Kicker DS650s on ebay brand new and shipped for 90 total.

I bought a pair of Kappa 692.9i 2-way 6x9's from amazon for under $100 bucks and they sound great with my 2004 infinity system. They are 2 ways and only handle bass, but hit way harder than stock and really sound good.

I did have to use both the trim ring from the kappa's and the stock speaker in order to make it fit with longer than stock screws, but it fit without issue. I used the stock wiring with a couple of the adapter plugs from amazon that convert the factory harness into 2 wires without snipping off the OEM plug.

The 6x9's in the wife's Caliber with the Musicgate system thump pretty hard.
Kicker has a kit with the 2 6x9's and 2 3.5's for the dash.
I originally bought the Infinity Kapps 6x9's for my front doors but the baskets were shaped so that I would have had to open the holes in the doors to get them flush, so i sent them back to Crutchfield.

All 4 for about $150 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrys...Q5fAccessories
