blend door/housing latest?
I have the famous busted recirc/fresh air blend door in my '06 Ram ST. While at the dealer parts dept, I asked for the part number and price for a new recirc door and was shown that they now supply the whole recirc housing with door as one replacement piece. part number 68004226-AC "Housing Air Inlet" list $50. He printed out a blow up dash illustration showing the housing behind glove box.
Has anyone ordered this and done the swap-out of the housing in lieu of just replacing the door and busted hinge? Seems that it would be easier to do the housing as one piece instead of clipping the little screen mesh and squeezing fingers in to do just the door...

I would not waste your time replacing the poorly designed factory doors with new poorly designed doors. I replaced one of mine (under warranty) and less then 40k later, it's broken again.
Fix them the right one and be done with it:

Fantastic solution and simple to do. They have detailed instructions and a step by step online video as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAclL84Qq8E There are 3 videos that cover it.

I'm thinking Dodge went back and beefed up/re did the whole set up including where the door mounts into the housing, to correct the flaws. To me, that seems to be the reason for the new housing part instead of just the door now.

No, this is the door that switches between outside air and recirculated air. It happens to be above the fan so when the door breaks off, it plugs the fan, restricting how hard it will blow, too.
