I was thinking about doing the same thing given the current gas situation.

You were wise getting the Dodge cap. Aftermarket caps are a constant source of problems for contemporary computer-controlled vehicles.

i bought a dodge dealer gas cap for an 03 dodge ram and even when its locked i could still pull of the gas cap off, it spins freely when u turn the key into lock position, so in essence its like a bleech bottle lid when tightened all the way it spins freely untill u push down and unlock it, thats how the mopar lockable gas cap was, i returned 2 times before the parts guy came out side and tried to prove me wrong, well he went inside and refunded my money and says i was the first to try and pry and twist it off, so i went to o'riellys auto part store here in texas and i got one for 16bucks and its impossible to pop off, the reason why i mentioned this in this forum is to prove with higher gas prices more and more people are stealing gas out of parked cars and if they can figure a way around the locking gas caps then they are useless. so i figured i would think like a theif and find every posible way to get a lid off with just my hands and the oriellys part store version of the lockable was most impressive , murray gas cap 59070 is the part num, i recomend it to all who want a unbreakable gas cap.

If you really want someones gas ,all you need is an ice pick and a bucket. The tanks are plastic.

I went to my local NAPA store today to get a locking gas cap, they are sold out......no surprize. Oh and the guy working the counter mentioned that strangely enough , they are also sold out of siphon hoses........
