Default 2004 SLT Ram Hemi - Was fun but Engine blew!

Hello all, Im new to the forums but have been doing research!

Well, I bought this 2004 Dodge Ram Regular Cab Hemi.... Magnaflow exhaust, Leveled, 3.92 Gears, 20" Factory rims..... was a great truck it sat for 1&1/2 years but I rescued it!

Cutting to the chase motor had an oil leak I always put oil in but it was leaking from the rear main seal.... this upcoming week I was going to have it replaced but 2 days ago the engine started to knock really bad!

Any help on finding an Engine!? Can Durangos, Grand Cherokees, and Commander Hemi engine be used? Hard to find the engine around Massachusetts area.

Log on to www.car-part.com . It's the national database for salvage parts in almost every salvage yard in the US. You will see the search window when you get there. Good luck with the motor.

I'm 50/50 on used motors. Some of those motors sit for along time and their history and maintenance is suspect. Granted most yards offer a warranty for xyz miles and months, but if something goes wrong your out your time and associated parts pulling it apart again to go through the entire process again. Again nothing wrong with used motors just I've been bit once with a used motor and that's all it took for me to decide if time and money allows I'm rebuilding it if its rebuildable. Of course you know your situation better than me so maybe you need the truck back ASAP not in a month or two.

Or a jasper remanded or something similar. That way you know exactly what you have. But your gonna spend a couple of grand on a remanufactured long block but IMO if your in the position time and finance wise its the best option particularly if you are having a problem with availability and you know you are going to have the vehicle for a good long while.

Thank you all, for the recommendations.... Car-part just found me an engine with 83k for about $2000. Looks like my best bet for now......

still cant believe the engine just blew like that.... had to be low oil or low oil pressure
