Cv axil assembly

Default Cv axil assembly

I'm trying to change cv axil got old one out when puting new one in I put spindle end in first it will not retract enough I need about an eighth of an inch how can I get it what am I doing wrong. I should mention it should go with out saying but it is the transfer case end I can't get on should I switch ends do I need to remove tierod and pop a ball joint any help is appreciated I have been trying for two days some one please help

What might you be working on? That info is kinda important.

You should be able to just pop the upper ball joint and that will give you enough room
