Default Brake pedal moves side to side

I have a 2006 quad cab and as the title says, my brake pedal moves side to side up to three inches.
The dealer says a bushing is needed and I can get it at cost+10.

anyone else have this problem? Is it something I can do?
The black yoke at the end of the pedal arm rotates around the crome-colored shaft

I haven't done one, but it doesn't look like it would be real difficult. My truck has adjustible pedals too, although I never move them.

I have the same problem. 2006 Mega Cab. It has nothing to do with the adjustable pedals. My brake pedal moves side to side about 2 inches. Stupid dealer said they would have to tear it apart to see what was wrong, like they don't already know!! Keep posting on your repair, as I would like to fix mine as well.

My son works at a Dodge dealer part time as a lot attendant while at school. Only one of the mechanics had heard of the problem, none of them had fixed it. Dodge says it is the bushing and they printed out a schematic of the linkage. I'm pretty good with a wrench, just trying to find some one who has done it and knows the tricks.

Default Any ideas on a fix yet for side-to-side movement?

UPDATE: This refers to side-to-side movement on the power-adjustable brake pedal. The problem seems to be with a simple plastic bushing where the pedal shaft interacts with motor screw assembly that moves the pedal. The repair kit 68079239AA that has been offered in the past does not appear to be available any longer from any dealers---stopped making it. Dodge does this when they issue parts to repair stuff and their own shop mechanics fail to install the kit correctly So when this happens enough nationally, they backtrack on a repair kit and want you to buy the whole brake pedal unit. This is a bolts-on-off procedure that is less often screwed up by technicians.

Does ANYONE have ideas about fixing this without having to pay the $250 plus for a whole assembly? Does anyone have the instructions and schematic from the old kit they can share so I can see if there is a work-around? Hss anyone swapped out the adjustable power pedal with a fixed pedal unit (I don't need to adjust my pedals).

Thanks very much for responding so quckly. I put in an order but got a check out note saying Summit doesn't have them in stock at this time I fear this means they can't get the kit either since the dealers in my area don't even show that the kit number is available. My credit card has been charged however by them so wel will see.

Thanks again for this lead!

Any other leads from anyone would be appreciated.

Default Additonal Update Dodge Discontinued brake pedal parts

I mentioned earlier that the bushing kit to fix this problem has been discontinued (see above posts). Still cannot find that. However, now I'm told that even the total pedal assembly 55366032AD, has been DC'd; also, the electric pedal motor kit 68128177AA and even just the gear box for this motorized pedal 68079547AA have all been DISCONTINUED. Therefore, there are apparently no new part fixes for this side-to-side movement problem with the powered brake/accelerator pedal unit. This is a 2006 Ram 1500 5 spd auto with 5.7 Anyone fix this problem with alternative parts or know of sources that aren't obvious from Google and part house searches?

NOS parts on Ebay maybe? Could check Jegs as well.

Worst case, take it apart, measure the bushings you need, and have one of your local machine shops make them for you. I had to do that for a few of my tractor parts..... and the local shop was happy to help me. They liked playing with some of the odd stuff I brought in.

I never fixed mine, ended up getting an appropriate length bungee to hold it to the left. It’s been like that for 10 years now, is out of sight, and holds it in place. Two dollar fix that I never had to think about again! But it was moving so far to the right it was actually starting to encroach on the gas pedal!
