Thumbs up 2008 Ram 1500- outer tie rod replacement- is moog the best?

Hi.

This will be the 2nd set of outer tie rods I will be putting on my truck. I do snow plow and I’m sure that’s why I need new ones again. I do want to put something more heavy duty that will outlast the onesyou get at Napa etc. I hear moog is top of the line. Anyone here using and do they last? Thanks! They do offer a lifetime warranty.

Moog on mine also. Did you buy yours from someplace that offers lifetime warranty like Autozone?

Same here, though I haven't had them on long enough to really comment on their lifespan. Initial build quality is definitely superior, and they are serviceable.

yea i saw some pretty cheap on ebay but for warranty purposes I bought from a local carquest (part store) so that if one fails wont have issue with them covering it. Any tips on changing it or any special tools? I saw some videos just taking nut off and using a small hammer to crack it free. Gonna spray all bolts/nuts few days before to dissolve any rust to make it lil easier. Also changing both even though only ones bad. Thought that made more sense. My first tie rod job. Thx

I would change your power steering fluid when you're done. PS+4 from the dealer, which is/looks like ATF+4. Not the regular power steering fluid. I did mine this past weekend, after about a month from doing my front end components. I could tell a difference on both changes.

Do you think i'll need that fork tool or should be able to break free and get out with small sledge hammer like the below video? They have both been changed once and are not original.

Couldn't say. I couldn't pass up the deal to have them installed for me, so I paid a guy to do it. Upper control arms/ball joints, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings were changed. Also had drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads installed.
