Default Please help. 04 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7l

I have a 04 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7l that I just put back on the road. It has been siting stored for about two years. The truck is running great, but I have one problem. It shifts fine at regular shift points...but when trying to floor it the truck will not go past normal shift points. From a stop with it on the floor is the same response as moving and then stomping it to get into passing gear. Everything is great but it won’t let me into the “power band” rpms. Everything is cutting off around 4000 rpms.

The gas is fresh. I had some small electrical issues after it sitting. Had to change the cam and crank shaft sensors. Took two computer resets to get it to learn the sensors again. It had plenty of power in the ranges it will run, but will not go past factory shift points. Stomping it to kick in to passing gear it only drops 1 gear to a low rpm instead of going down two, to the higher ranges of that gear. No CELs. It has me stumped.

I’m 99% sure you’re right about the tv cable. I found last night that if I stomp on it and try to shove the gas through the floor board it will shift down and run to the rev limiter. So now my question is for some advice on how to adjust. I’ve never done this, so a little advice to get started would be much appreciated.

Baseline is NO slack in the cable at all. (having two people to adjust makes it easier, one person holds the lever at the trans, to prevent it from moving, while the person at the throttle body end takes up the slack. If you want firmer, later shifts, pull the cable housing back a click at a time, and see how your like it. If you want softer, earlier shifts, push the cable in toward the TB one click at a time, and test drive it.

Is it possible that it’s just the throttle cable? I’m not gonna be able to do it till this weekend. The gas pedal seems kind of loose and doesn’t have a lot of travel from idle to floor.

Is your throttle drive by wire?? (no mechanical connection to the TB.)

There is a cable attached to the throttle body. I have dug into adjusting anything yet. It’s dark by the time I get off of work. I’ll pull it in my buddies garage when I’m home for the weekend. I’ll just noticing there isn’t much travel on the pedal compared to other things I’m driving. Just asking to cover all bases before I really start.
