Default Lifter noise after rebuilt motor.

I have a 2007 Ram with the 5.7 hemi. I rebuilt the engine with all new parts. I put a new cam and lifters in it with new pushrods. Motor runs strong but I have a lot of lifter noise. When I start it first thing in the morning it makes a lot of noise then settles down after a minute or so but I can still hear the lifter rattling after the truck is warmed up. It’s got about 250 miles on the motor, is there any adjustments I can/need to do to get rid of the noise. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I’m sure you did but I must ask. Did you replace the main cam bearings when you rebuilt it? These are notorious for failure and noise in the 5.7

Yep I had the local machine shop bore it and installed all new bearings and had the heads redone. The custom cam I installed required 6.1 pushrods so I bought new ones of them.

Sure looks nice.

What oil are you using? Did you physically check for proper pushrod length?

I’m running 5W20 Mobil 1. I installed the pushrods that cam with the COMP. cams I got. They are pushrods for the 6.1 hemi.

Wonder if the geometry is correct...... rockers aren't adjustable are they?

I assume the lifters are non adjustable? I've got the 4.7L with hydraulic lifters (really lash adjusters) and right after replacing them along with valve springs, the truck ran like complete sh*t and ticked like crazy till the lifters primed up fully with oil. How long have you run the engine?

There is no adjustment on the 5.7 lifters. I have about 250 miles on the motor right now. I would have thought the lifters would have been pressurized by now. I let them soak in oil for about a day before I installed them.
