Stereo Question
OK I finally installed my door speakers ( very easy by the way ). What I didn't anticipate was the front door speakers sounding like ****. All low bass and no highs. Is there any way to remedy this easily? I know about the amp but can they be spliced or do I have to bypass the amp? Would it be easier to install a new stereo? What is the ins and outs of a stereo install? Thanks.
Another Question. Regarding installing a new stereo, If I go aftermarket (looking at Crutchfield again) do I have to do anything special to bypass the amp or do I just plug in the supplied connectors and it bypasses automatically? Thanks
Relax, its simple to install an aftermarket stereo,Crutchfield will supply the wiring harness pig tail ,so no splicing is necessary, also Crutchfield will supply the adaptor with the head unit,so it is simple! all these accessories are at no charge when you but the head unit through them! they also supply step by step instructions on how to remove and replace the dash facia around the unit.(couple or screws and a couple of clips, takes about 3 minutes to remove and re-install)
hope this helps

why bypass the amp - i have the 7 infinity factory system - i am replacing the head unit with a kenwood dvd player (ddx7017) -
Should i bypass the factory amp ?
I was debating on replacing the front door speakers after installing the new headunit.

as far as i know, the only amp is located in the head unit itself, except in the SRT vehicles,my stratus R/T has the infinity system also, but no external amp.So if you change the head unit, you change the amp at the same time!
I have read different - or misunderstood
I have an 05 QC Hemi - from what i was reading i thought there was an external amp with the 7 infiiniti speaker package - i may have misunderstood - i also thought that is why the front doors get all the bass- due to the way the amp is configured-
thought they advertised 22 watts rms per speaker, and i have 7 speakers factory - the head unit surely doesnt put of 7x22watts
let me know, i think i'll be happier if there isnt an external amp, but im pretty sure i read there was -

I stand corrected, there is an external amp with the infinity system,it is located behind the glove box and must be by-passed when installing an aftermarket head unit. You will have to run speaker wires from the head unit to the speakers,or from an aftermarket amp to the speakers if you are planning on installing one! As of this time,no one makes a by-pass harness to make things easier, but one is expected this spring.

HI Jeff, this is what I have in my truck(2004 single cab) front doors,Infinity Perfect 6.1 component speakers, Behind the seat Infinity Kappa 52.7i component speakers, An Infinity 7540A amplifier(111 watts per chanel x 4) ,For bass i have the Infinity Basslink T,1 250 watt powered 10 in sub with 2 10 in passive radiators(all in a box that fits easily behind the seat) and an alpine head unit
Yea that was my question. If an aftermarket stereo would bypass that amp. I didn't want to cut and splice speakers to bypass it if possible. I guess I don't have a choice right now.
