Hello all! First post after registering, hoping someone can save me. Okay, so about a month ago my 2006 Ram 1500 5.7 went into "limp mode". It was throwing a code for the ETC with the lightning bolt light, oil pressure sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. I replaced the throttle body and both sensors and it seemed to have resolved. Well, yesterday I changed the oil and it started again. First there was a few hard misses (almost like hitting something) and it would only happen between 55mph and 60mph, then the lightning bolt came back on and the truck died. I was able to get it home by resetting the ETC using the gas pedal and it ran, but not well. Fast forward to this morning, and now the truck has died once again. Tried resetting it with the pedal to no avail. It is now throwing p0335 and p0522. I have tried leaving the negative disconnected for 20 minutes and that did nothing. Tried resetting the pcm and it still won't start. I talked with a mechanic and he "guarantees" that it's the pcm. Another said it's the timing chain. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This has rapidly gone from something I can handle with limited tools, to I'm not sure what's wrong and I don't know if I have the tools to fix it

Without a good scanner, troubleshooting these trucks can be rather problematic. If there is a shop that you trust, have it towed, get it fixed, call it a day.

Therein lies the problem, I don't trust any of my local shops and it's a 50 mile tow to one I do 😅
I see a lot of posts on different forums for this issue, and very few updates if it has resolved so here we are! I picked up a new camshaft sensor today and the pickup is running great now with no misfires after installing the new sensor.
****update pt. 2****
Just kidding. Sustained 65mph and the lightning bolt light came back on and the truck shut off with no misfires. Got it restarted after fighting with it for 10 minutes and it is in limp mode, chugging, heaving and will not accelerate past 11mph. Get the truck home, shut it off, try it again and it starts without issue or warning lights and is fine again. Planning to replace the throttle pedal and look for bad wires around the cam position sensor and oil pressure sensor.

Go to amazon and get a bluetooth obd2 for $14 delivered, and then download torque on your phone - its free or get the pro version for a couple bucks. Then you can start looking into what is really going on.
The other option is keep reloading the parts cannon using google posts of other people using similar guessing techniques as a guidance system :-)
