Default Where to find EGR Tube

I had my engine replaced and apparently the mechanic failed to reinstall the EGR system. I am trying to get it smogged in California. The truck passed the emissions test, but part of what they do is make sure all the emissions parts are there. The smog shop won't pass it until the EGR system is installed.

I found a valve, gaskets and bolts. I need an EGR tube but can't find one anywhere. I know I can go to a pick and pull yard - an hour and a half from me. Any other places to look?

The picture is of the plate bolted to the head where normally the EGR valve is located. No valve, tube or harness with connector.

It's a 2006 Ram 2500 4x4 with the 5.7 liter in it. Sorry for not including this info...

Yeah - but this is under the Ram 1500 list. There is no comparable tube listed under the 2500. Or, hopefully, will it be the same thing?

Actually, I don't think the 2500 5.7 even came with EGR, which explains the block-off plate.

How would I document this. The factory service manual does not talk about a block-off plate. I'm looking at section 25, page 52.

Here's a pic of the "vehicle emission control information" posted on the underside of the hood. Is there something in the information, or exempted that I can point out to the smog guy?

How can I lead the smog guy to concluding the block-off plate is a regular part of this engine/truck?

Thanks for your help!!!

I found a bunch of threads on this and other forums saying that my 2006 2500 Hemi does not have an EGR System. How would I document this?

Show the tech the service manual, tell him to find the section on EGR. (it shouldn't exist.)

My 96 with the 5.9 didn't have egr either, however, the intake manifold DID have the provision for it, with a blockoff plate where the valve would be. Dodge was just using up excess inventory of the 95 and older manifolds that DID have egr.

The 'tech' should know, or have resources to consult, as to weather your truck should have it or not.

I would also point out, that if the truck was supposed to have it, but, doesn't, there would be a code or three whining about it, or, the software version wouldn't match what was on the label.....

Thanks for all the replies. I found documentation in the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 Parts Manual. Group 025, Figure 025-205

https://ia601009.us.archive.org/10/i...99%20pages.pdf

I'll take this into the smog shop tomorrow and see what they say, and if they will actually charge me a $40 recheck fee... They better not...

The only thing that gives me pause is that your emissions sticker mentions only EPA compliance. California requires vehicles to be CARB compliant. That doesn't mean it magically needs EGR.. my 03 1500 has no EGR from the factory and its a CA truck. But it could mean they could fail it for not having a CARB cert.

Did you buy the truck from out of state?
