Breaking Tires Free

I don't have to worry about a fox body motor..... I'm gonna go with either a 331, a 347, or a 408 D.S.S. longblock, and should be running low 10's without Nitrous, and easy 9 sec ride with a 150-200 shot of juice!! yes 03 Cobra's are very bad and very nice! The cobra is out of my $$$$ range for just a trailor car. plus the fox body parts are a bit cheaper anyway!!

You're building up a Fox Body? Why not just switch the motor out of it and mod that. The motor is those early 90's stangs have absolutely no top end and also problems on low-end torque. If you put serious money into it then there wont be much that can catch it but personally I would get an 03 Cobra.

Well, i'm changing from my 03 Lightning, to an 06 1500 4X4 QC Sport.... My lightning is kiling me on gas mileage, and I race it quite a bit, gonna be hard to say goodbye to 620 RWHP..... It would break the tires loose a bit to easy.... even at 55 MPH....
Gotta sell it to get my Dodge, then The build of an 88-93 mustang coupe starts.

Do you have 4x4?
Do you have a QC?
Do you have 20's?
Do you have stock gears?
If so, you weight a ton more than the little trucks, meaning 2wd and 2door. Before anybody gets off on me for that statement;
I like the looks of the Dodge, etc.
But if I wanted to go fast, I woulda bought a Lightning. I checked out the Harley Fords, but they are not fast and they look like a toaster.
I wanted 4X4 and a QC. So I bought the hemi.
My truck with driver is around 5900lbs.
There is a lot of stuff you need to understand.

You can see my ram in the background.. hehe^^^
i have an 04 qc 4.7 with stock 20s and tonite i decided to fill up with 93 octane gas. big difference. instead of barely chirping them on take off if i get any sound at all im breakin em loose easy. the higher octane really helps i think im gonna make it a permanent switch and when i get my cai and power wire i cant wait to see what itll do. i want some kinda chip or programmer or something but they dont make em for the 04 4.7 that ive seen
I have an 03 4x4 Hemi with stock 20's and it won't spin the wheels on dry pavement from standstill either, but............................I don't want it to!
It's a waste of good tires and also, while your doing that, the dude you've just lined up against is LONG GOOOOONNNNNNNE[sm=gears.gif]
Wet, well thats a diferent story. I can spin the whole truck in a 360 without hesitation no probs ha ha ha. Scares the wife like crazy[sm=badbadbad.gif]

Mine has never broken them from a dead stop on dry pavement without power braking. i attribute this to the additional weight of being 4 wheel drive. Never has concerned me though I would rather it hook up off the line than smoke em.
My 04' hemi QC won't do it either. It just takes of like a rocket. Does anyone else agree that the Hemi peaks its torque quickly then flattens out during max acceleration??? The hypertech helped a little. I am getting headers next week then, hopefully the STS turbo.
Just thought I would chime in here , I just purchased a 2006 std cab short box 4x4 1500 with the 5.7 with MDS and U guys got me curious about doin a burnout - I only have 485 miles so I havent even tried it yet but after reading this post u got me wonderin. So I go out in the parking lot at work and come to a stop - smack the throttle half way down (still babyin it) - As all the stuff I had in the dash comes flyin out I come outta it and look in my rearview and there is a 20 ft. pozi patch behind me. I have 305/50/20 (32" tall) yokahama geolander tires anti slip diff with 3.55 gears. I was pleasantly surprized at the power right outta the box. Ok back to babyin her.

I know this is a bad idea going in but here it is...
My truck will chirp them if I really force it to, without a power brake. With that said I wan't everyone to look at the truck that they bought. Beautiful ride, good power, everything you should want. But, your talking a 5500 lb curb weight (if not more), 350 horse (if its a Hemi), a slushbox, and in some cases, a transfer case. It wasn't designed to spin them for hundreds of feet laying down rubber all over the place. If that is what your looking for, why did you buy a vehicle that's nearly 3 tons with 'only' 350 horse?
Now, don't flame me...there's nobody here that likes to go fast more then me. Why else would I drop a 600+ horsepower motor in my Chevelle street car? But the facts remain that its a truck. Is it quick? Yes, for a 5500# object with very little aerodynamics. But it's not going to put down 50 ft. posi marks at half throttle. Just save your tires, and if you really want smoke, then brakestand.
Again, this is my $.02, not ment to offend anyone. I'll get off my soap box now.

i have the same set up as you and they light up in reverse good, but same as you cant get them to light up going forward. also never tried power braking. might have to try that tonite [sm=lildevil.gif]

I too have a hard time chirping the tires on dry pavement.
Have never tried power breaking, I might have to try that sometime. I have the 4.7 K/N CAI kit, Flowmaster 40 series cat back system. Engine runs nice and smooth, sounds great, but can't break traction for the life of me.
Reverse on the other hand is a totally different story. I **** you not I hit it in reverse hard one day pissed off at stop light I was tired of waiting at.
Lit em up pretty good for about a block. Going forward, I might as well forget about it. Reverse for some reason will do it.
Anyone else have this happen in reverse?

If spinning tires is your only goal, get lower gears. (higher ratio)
