Hey, I have about 500 miles on my new 2006 Ram QC with the 5.7 and MDS. It also has the AWD transfer case and Limited Slip. I cant even chirp my stock 20's from a standstill. Ive tried to powerbrake them once and was unsucessful at 3k rpm's. Im told that some of the 05's and all the 06's wont break lose like the older Hemi's because the computer is recalibrated because of all the complaints from customers about that problem. Im not sure of the truth behind this, but my buddies 06 is a regular cab built everything else the same as mine and he has the same problem.
The info you heard about the recalibrations to the ECU is true. I have a feeling that Superchips will be able to override this when they release their remote for the 05/06 Hemi. It'll be fine dude, you'll be taking names and kicking *** in no time. Chill dude, it will soon be fixed.

Umm... what?

LSD makes it harder to break your tires loose... that is the whole reason you have it, to aid straight line traction... LSD and POSI (which incidentally are very different) both effectively double your contact patch... thus doubling the amount of torque needed to break your tires free, and dramatically reducing the odds off you breaking your tires free... in a straight line.

I have an '03 Hemi 2500 QC 4x4 with stock 17's - won't break tires loose from a standstill either (unless I were to be turning a corner- then I can get the inside rear to spin) - I have only had her for about 3 weeks, but seems like it should be making more power, although I realize it's a very heavy machine. My main question, and yes I've searched this, is how do I find out what gears I have? Someone said that there's a tag from assembly on the rear axle (don't see one) - someone said it's on a lable in the glovebox (not on mine) - so how do I figure out which ring and pinion set-up I have?

I too have a hard time chirping the tires on dry pavement.

Have never tried power breaking, I might have to try that sometime. I have the 4.7 K/N CAI kit, Flowmaster 40 series cat back system. Engine runs nice and smooth, sounds great, but can't break traction for the life of me.

Reverse on the other hand is a totally different story. I **** you not I hit it in reverse hard one day pissed off at stop light I was tired of waiting at.

Lit em up pretty good for about a block. Going forward, I might as well forget about it. Reverse for some reason will do it.

Anyone else have this happen in reverse?

Do you have 4x4?

Do you have a QC?

Do you have 20's?

Do you have stock gears?

If so, you weight a ton more than the little trucks, meaning 2wd and 2door. Before anybody gets off on me for that statement;

I like the looks of the Dodge, etc.

But if I wanted to go fast, I woulda bought a Lightning. I checked out the Harley Fords, but they are not fast and they look like a toaster.

I wanted 4X4 and a QC. So I bought the hemi.

My truck with driver is around 5900lbs.

There is a lot of stuff you need to understand.

Well, i'm changing from my 03 Lightning, to an 06 1500 4X4 QC Sport.... My lightning is kiling me on gas mileage, and I race it quite a bit, gonna be hard to say goodbye to 620 RWHP..... It would break the tires loose a bit to easy.... even at 55 MPH....

Gotta sell it to get my Dodge, then The build of an 88-93 mustang coupe starts.

J.
You're building up a Fox Body? Why not just switch the motor out of it and mod that. The motor is those early 90's stangs have absolutely no top end and also problems on low-end torque. If you put serious money into it then there wont be much that can catch it but personally I would get an 03 Cobra.

I don't have to worry about a fox body motor..... I'm gonna go with either a 331, a 347, or a 408 D.S.S. longblock, and should be running low 10's without Nitrous, and easy 9 sec ride with a 150-200 shot of juice!! yes 03 Cobra's are very bad and very nice! The cobra is out of my $$$$ range for just a trailor car. plus the fox body parts are a bit cheaper anyway!!

Wow. Trucks do have torque management, but should not be an issue.

Clear your computer and let it re-learn, worth a shot. Easiest way is to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. Also run 89 octane.

I have a 05 Reg Cab that can break the tires loose, no problem. For Sale

I have 20's with Nittos which are a pain to spin but i can do it just by taking of. I have an 03 4.7 with 3.92 gears. Also I was going to let the dealer re-start my computer until i read you can do this your self. I just disconnected the battery lets hope it works out

I run Nittos on mine too. They are definitely more difficult to spin than the stockers, but there is no doubt in my mind they would go up in smoke if there was a way to stop the PCM from pulling timing out from a hard launch. I really can't stand it. My 5.9 Jeep had the same problem, but it was easily turned off with a reflash. Hopefully someone will get a handle on these computers soon and figure it out. There's nothing I hate more than power being left on the table due to weak tuning.

This my sound strange but has anyone tried putting stiffer springs in the rear? My 04 Hemi Qc with 17's barley chirp when i take off, sometimes not at all. And it has the annoying wheel hop when i take turns. So i want to get stiffer springs. Id hope that will help get more power to the ground allowing the wheel to spin faster.
