Burn In
I've got no sympathy for street racers, but if you want to go to a track that sounds like fun. My 06 1500 does all I want and I can scoot up the on-ramp or pass with authority; but I do have a question for you racing types.
When you do a burn-in you're holding the brakes and applying throttle at the same time, does that mean the rear wheels are not only working against the road friction but also the rear brakes? How hard is this on the transmission?
I could never bring myself to do this to good tires, but I might slip over to the dark side next time I'm due for tires.

we called it powerbraking or powerjacking. It's not good on the tranny or rearend for that matter - like pulling a heavy load - but once you start spinning, you let up on the brakes and just apply light pressure to control the truck/car. Some people actually loosen the brakes (drum style) or install a type of kill switch so pressure does not go to the back but those are hardcore show-offs that do that.....

What you do is completely stop your truck when in drive just let the car roll and touch the brake just enough to stop your truck then ram the throttle. I do it every now and then just for like 2seconds to leave 5foot black lines.

I have about 700 miles on my 06 RC SB Hemi 2WD. I have yet to PB it. But if I smack the throttle from a dead stop it will chirp the tires and pin you in the seat. I much prefer that instead of roasting 20 inch tires. Im sure it would have no problem roasting those 20's if I wanted it to. When I had my 01 Dak R/t it had no traction whatsoever. This new Ram is amazing and would spank my old R/T.
