Default The Regular Cab Enthusiast's Manifesto

Hi everyone,

I've been reading the forum for a couple days, (before deciding to join), and got the impression that the vast majority of people here have the quad cab models. To each his own, but I was wondering if there are any other people in the minority out there that prefer regular cabs to QC?

Am I alone in thinking that a QC truck looks more like an SUV with a bed taped to it? For example, at the top of the page in the sticky section there are some pictures of the 2006 mega cab...if you haven't already, go feast your eyes on the SUVness, the Avalanche-itude, the blinding glow of Soccer Momissity on that model. I swear that thing is one bumper sticker away from being an Astrovan.

So are there people out there that enjoy the sheer and stubborn impracticality of a 2 1/2 seat regular cab truck? Something about it just screams TRUCK to me.

What? You and your wife need a ride to the airport? Sure, but she'll have to ride in the back.

Now that is a truck.

I have always liked Regular cabs more (if full size). I think they look a little more sporty if that is possible for a truck. Then again I am single with no kids....

I like the look of the regular cab, but I must say since I bought my reg cab, the quad cabs are growing on me since I see them all over my town.

The Dodge reg cabs have a lot of room behind the front seats which I like, but once in a while I wish it had the room for 4 instead of 2.

As far as I'm concerned, quad cabs are a total waste of time and money, unless thiers a 8 ft box behind you, I'm also hateful of short boxs no matter what size cab you have. I'm old fashioned in my ideal that a real truck is one you take to work and can haul 8x4 sheets of building material with the tail gate clossed.

I'm' self employed and I need a truck with a 8 ft box and if I have to haul passengers, they can ride in the back or bring thier own car.

I don't have kids and I will never own a mini van, so I can get away with this, if my life style changes, I will buy a old LTD country Squire wagon or a GM verson with the fake wood plastic stick on paneling to haul the wife and kidlets arround, or a 4 door ugly looking sedan with real steal bumpers that will run most trucks off the road...

No kid of mine is ever going to see a DVD player in my ride and they will ride in the most depenable, cheapest and uglyist set of wheels I can find...and If I should ever get an RV, A old Ford wagon with a 460 or Gm with a 454 will tow more than a lot of gas trucks and will cost a lot less to run ( a small investment to get car road worthy and a supply of emergancey gas cards cost less than the payments on a new truck, insurance, ect )

I'm not a fan off the SUV, but this is basicly a 4 door station wagon with 4wd ....

I like the look of the RC over the QC any day and think that even QC owners agree. You get a QC when you have to "compromise" because you have a wife and kids and need to go to work, get groceries and haul the family around. So buy the wife a "minivan" and go get yourself a RC or if you haved the money buy her a SUV, lol.[sm=bicker.gif]

I have the QC and a Ram 1500 conversion van, mine wasn't bought as a compromise, I just prefer the extra space.
Also the added weight makes the ride a little smoother, my last truck was a regular cab and frankly I was tired of getting beaten to death.

I love my Regular cab 1500, it looks more aggresive than the Quad Cab. And throw a HEMI in it and its very very quick. Now I have nothing against a Quad Cab and will eventually get one once I have a few kids running around BUT I will still keep my Reg Cab though for fun purposes.
