Official MPG 4th Gen Thread
I did a search on this thread (as it was the MPG sticky) for "fuelly" and came up with nothing. If you guys are interested in a really cool way to track mileage, and compare to other users, check out fuelly.com. There is also a version optimized for iPhone, Android, and other web-enabled phones at m.fuelly.com.
I am not affiliated with Fuelly in any way, I'm just a happy user. After some initial setup (create an account, add your vehicles, choose entry method), all you do is enter your details with each fill-up - odometer reading, fuel cost (per gallon), and fuel quantity - Fuelly does the rest. I've found ALL vehicle trip computers to be optimistic, though I haven't put gas in my new 1500 yet. Fuelly automatically does all kinds of cool number crunching for you, so you can see average cost per gallon, average consumption, etc. over various time periods, even cool graphs of some of these metrics.
When entering the data, you can also add tags or comments, which I have used in the past to indicate whether I was towing my boat or RV, or anything else that affected the MPG for that tank.
I know I'm a numbers geek, so maybe I get more enjoyment out of this than most. My other vehicle is a 2010 VW Jetta TDI, by the way - it's capable of some truly "videogame" MPG numbers.

I had to do some re-figuring. Seems my truck orignally came with the 17" wheels. A PO swapped for the OEM 20"s, but didn't get the speedo set for them. I found this after checking with GPS and my other vehicle. After some research online, the 20"s set the speedo off by 4.4%, so I recaluculated everything with that added in. I fixed the spreadsheed so it automatically adds the 4.4%. When I take the truck in next, I'll see if they can fix that for me.

Took my 2010 SLT from Pa to Florida a couple of weeks ago. I kept the speed at 67 or lower to try to increase the MPG. First tank was 20.5, second was 21 (all calculated) running 87 octane. Third tank, we kicked it in the *** a bit to 75 and it dropped to 19. It is completely stock Heml quad cab 4x4 with 3.90's and 20 inch rims. I was impressed. Most driving was with the cruise on, and the truck has 16k miles.
My 07 Hemi 4X4 showed no improvement after switching to AEM filter and Magnaflow.
My 09 Hemi 4X4 showed no improvement after doing the exact same Mods. Both also tell me I am getting more MPG than actual (Marketing Lies?). Both 3.92's.
I decided to drop the 89 octane in the '09 to 87 and try PRI-G in each tank instead.
I have put 10k on the '09 while testing these things searching for more MPG, and measured each tank. I had only one tank over 17 mpg until I used the PRI-G. I now have 2 more in 17+ range and first ever over 18 (18.4), and this costs less than 89 octane.
In addition, most of the additive check miles were after going to A/C 100% of time.
Real? Don't know, but starting to think so. Still search for more MPG, however. Have I reduced the back pressure too much?

I got my 2011 Ram sport with the 5.7 hemi. I put 500 miles on it then i drove from Phoenix to Atlanta (1800+ miles). I picked up a 7000+ lb trailer and drove back (another 1800+ miles). The first 500 miles around town i was getting between 14 and 16mpg scraping the 17mpg mark using regular fuel. On the way to Atlanta i got 22-23MPG going about 80 the whole way. On the way back with the trailer i averaged about 10mpg. I hit 9mpg in the hilly states and 11mpg on the flats. I was 100% stock with nothing special done, not even the first oil change.
All in all i was pretty impressed. That eco feature on the hemi sure was nice on the way to Atlanta.
