Dude, i dont get why you dont understand this. The KEY WORD here is...MONEY SPENT...! ALL money paid out has to be accounted for, including taxs and intrest. Total money spent is still total money spent. It dosent meen the truck is worth what you spent, the object is, you still have a GRAND TOTAL at the end of the deal, no matter if its grocerie`s or house`s. What you`re saying here is, that tax`s and intrest are somethin you cant account for into the deal..??? I dont know about you, but thats still money spent out of your pocket. You`re trying to itemize everything and group it up into catagories and stop in the middle of the deal and not count up the GRAND TOTAL cash spent. Where you sign on the dotted line, thats what matters in the end result for what it cost`s you. Every penny spent has to be accounted for, or you wouldnt be able to balance your budget properly. In the end, everybody looks at whats left over of what it cost them, obviously you dont, but its STILL money out the door that you dont have after the deal is done, and the last bank payment is made, its still money taken from you.

PLEASE, i`m done with this, lets get back to the actual post and drop this subject

Well Bubba the SELLING PRICE of a item is totally different then the overhaul cost. The SELLING price of the truck in question is NOT 50k.You are confusing PRICE(selling price) of a item with COST is the price with ancillary charges such as tax, loan interest etc.A home listed on MLS is the asking price. Then again they don't give a rat what it cost you to buy. These exaggerated prices thrown out are only by a very few on these forums.Obviously everyone else GETS it and knows that that amount is BS.Same as the select few who get 35mpg.I've been reading these forums for years.Once in a while you get one that screams his vehicle is junk and he got took for 50million dollars when every one else paid $25k. If I offended anyone by calling it like it is OH WELL.If I drove this into the ground well just look at what my handle is.I hate BS,facts are facts not made up to satisfy the select few.

houndog is right, the selling price of the truck not the same as cost of ownership, sellling price 25000.00. that is the cost to buy, 25000.00 + sales tax +interest (over length of finance period) + cost of repairs and mods and maintenance= cost of ownership. look at the truck as one product, then you purchase financing, another product + any thing else you want add, another product. so 25000.00 sell price of truck+product A + product B does not change sell price of truck.

I love this stirring the pot s*** and I'm gonna keep this going, lol! For starters I'm almost 57 years old and was raised with eight brothers and sisters on bologna sandwiches and campbell's soup in a crowded three bedroom house, lol! I dropped out of the ninth grade to go to work at a 1.65 an hour and saved every penny I made and then some. I proudly bought my first car, a clean three year old 66 Pontiac in 69...not to many 15 year olds can do something like that nowadays. And not a smart thing to drop out but I didn't like going to school hungry. Though I did get a GED along with some other schooling during my four years of service...I know, big deal! So there you go...you got me, I have little education but I can count swell, lol! As far as financing autos I financed several. That's not a lot by far to most, but it does show some experience with the financial institution. The following point here is going to be that financing does have something to do with the overall price of the vehicle! To be eligible for All cash back allowances and incentives, I was told by my dealership that I had to finance at least 15k and through their lenders. I wanted to pay cash which would have tapped my savings If I were not allowed all incentives. Therefore I didn't have enough or would have left me close to 0 balance in my savings. So I put down 19k and financed 6k from my banker for one year (I let her deal with Chrysler's hidden fine print) which cost me 273$ in interest but I had to Pay more for my truck. However, I did save in the long run had I financed 15k through them for four years. The dealer made me feel that my Fair credit was bad and that I had to go through them so they could make money off of my financing. And yes you are right, the dealer does not give a rats *** what the financing cost. But they damn sure do care about who you finance through because they stand to make or break money in the deal if you go through them. Therefore financing has everything to do with your purchase price. And as I mentioned earlier, my truck paid for itself in the first year using it for construction so my new purchase was a Good investment, lol! And BTW...I never saw anyone on this thread mention any where near 50k for their truck in the first place and you talk about people exaggerating, lol! But I understand your point, you don't think people who exaggerate the cost of their truck so they can be treated like you deserve to shine on this forum, lol! I'm going to duck now so you can't hit me anymore, (just having a little fun) lol! EDIT#5, lol: no hard feelings there...Bubba, lol!

Nobody is arguing the selling price of the vehicle, but if you paid 25k CASH out the door, then you paid 25k for the fringin truck out of your pocket and you are NOT EXAGGERATING...what's so hard to understand about that? Now...show me on this thread and no where else...where someone CLAIMED they paid 50k for a 25k truck to warrant this this argument in the first place. I paid 25,300 for my truck out the door, sure it's a cheapie bla bla bla...but I paid 25,300, am I exaggerating...NO! My interest of 273 whopping dollars for the 6k loan went to my bank. Interest I had to pay because Chrysler would not give me all of the advertised incentives because I wouldn't finance through them for four years at God knows what ever interest which in turn AFFECTED the total PRICE of my truck which Houndog claims has NO AFFECT. If anyone else adds the interest and finance charges they paid out of their pocket, it is their business and IMO are not exaggerating...who gives a hoot why they did...That's what it cost them and they have every reason to gripe if their dealer won't honor the bumper to bumper warranty...PERIOD! If you guys see it differently, that's your business, But there's no need to belittle anyone who feels differently. If you buy you son or daughter a car for college that list for 22k as a gift, then you won't expect a 25k write off when you file you taxes now would you? Let's see you guys get out of that one, I'll be ducking in the mean time, lol!

Hey 1954Radio,
awesome way of wording, says pretty much what i wanted to say, i just have a harder time putting it to words. Thank you for adding some insight on what i was trying to get at. Yeah yer right, nobody in this post mentioned they paid $50k, hounddog was the one that said that people were. (and people DOOO pay 50k, it just wasnt the case here) I dont know why he would say that to begin with when we were talking about MDS to start with...its like he`s rubbing their nose`s in their own misery that they paid alot a money for their trucks i guess. Just because he bought HIS truck cheaper than most did or can, dosent give him the right to belittle others. Hounddog is definatley confusing selling price vs final money spent in the GRAND TOTAL purchase....BIG BIG difference between the two. For sure, the grand total comes out of your wallet, taxs and intrest included. I guess he has someone else paying that out for him so he dosent have to include it into what he pays for the grand total.

Hounddog, this is for you and your huntergreen pal.
I will give you a rough example of how most people look at owning a truck these days. Alot of people pay FULL sticker (and i did, so what...!!!) The price will also depend on WHEN you buy the truck (begining of a new model yr vs end of a model yr clearence) What you`ll see below is pretty much my truck and what it cost me to buy. Its NOT 50k as you try to bash on people about, but its close enough. Yeah i paid what i paid, and thats my gripe to bitch about if i want to...and i certainly didnt even mention it here in this post until now, because i KNOW ther`s people like you that feel they have to bash people because you think you got a better deal (i dont give a ratsazz what you paid either, my total truck purchase wasnt out of YOUR pocket) I think the price of these vehicles today are wayyyyyyyyy over priced for what you get. But my final point is, final price is final price and i dont care what you think it should or shouldnt be. If you bought yours for next to nothin, good for you, but dont acuse, bash, tell other people that they are wrong for what they paid out to buy it just because you think tax`s and intrest arent counted in the end price, that money HAS to be accounted for, its money you earned and had to pay to FULLY BUY THE TRUCK...!!!!!!!! Nobody is saying its worth what they paid, its what it cost them to buy it...!!! Everybody see`s the real picture at the end result out the door of what they pay. (the sticker is the starting point of the deal, NOT the end result of what you pay out) If they dont account for tax, intrest and such, then they obviously make more money than they care about. We arent talkin about the sticker price here, we are talkin about end result of the deal to drive that truck down the highway and purchasing it, tax`s AND financing included,(and whatever else you purchased with the deal/contract) its STILL money you have to spend to get that truck out of the dealers lot if you want it.

2010 Dodge Ram1500 Hemi 4x4 QC Sport
$43,000 (Sticker MSRP)
$-1,000 (GMAC rebate)
$42,000 (Price of truck)
$00.000 (Trade-in)
$+1,500 (ext warranty)
$+3,480 (Sales Tax 8%)
$+2,000 (approx intrest)
$48,980 (Grand Total) This is what the truck cost me to buy

Whoop`s, i forgot, i shouldn`t have added in the $6980 in there, that dosent account for anything...sorry hounddog/huntergreen.

HOUNDDOG, (and HUNTERGREEN)
The extra $6980 into "my" purchase does NOT make my truck worth more, its hard earned money i had to spend just to buy it, and it has to be accounted for, in which now brings my grand total price of $48,980.00 This truck needs to be as perfect as possible for what i paid out to buy it. Dam right if ther`s somethin wrong with it, i`ll bitch if i want to, and so will others, its THEIR right for what they paid...!!!!! When somethin breaks on YOUR cheaper priced, no tax, no intrest truck, dont bitch bro, you didnt pay what we paid. Does that sound fair to you...???? I didnt think so.

Soooo HOUNDDOG/Huntergreen....now as you can see above, i paid out almost 50k to get my truck. The "grand total" comes out of MY pocket. Does it still look exaggerated to you, about spending 50k...???? At least i was fortunate to get a very low intrest rate. Now concider the people that cant get a low intrest rate, (and/or upside down in the loan, its still money you have into the truck) and the price they invest into buying the truck can go well over 50k in some case`s if you buy the top of the line. So ther you have it, thats how people can payout an easy 50k out of their pockets to get a truck today, EVEN if you say its bullsht that they didnt really pay 50k. I bet when you look at your paycheck at the end of the week, you look at the gross amount, dont you...!!! The rest of us look at "take home" just the same way we look at what a vehicle is going to cost at the end of the week to take home. Net vs Gross/Gross vs Net, just depends on what you`re lookin at. Its all about what it ALL comes down to in the end...!

End of story...! Now GET BACK ON TOPIC...!!!!!!! MDS MDS MDS MDS
Hey, did i mention, i put a couple of those little blue pills in the gastank...???? It gave my truck the biggest set of *****...hehehehe
Oh, and now my truck sounds like a bull snarling when the MDS kicks in...HEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEE

If you paid FULL sticker price in this day and age for any vehicle I can understand why you think the way you do.I'd be embarrassed to admit that to anyone.

first i wasn't trying to stir the pot or get under anyones skin, i was only trying to say there is a difference between the sell price of truck, and/ plus the cost of owning the truck. i think we are are discussing semantics.
second, i only read the first page of this thread and the last before i posted.
third, i would never comment on anyones purchase, other than "nice truck" regardless of weather i agreed with deal, color, engine or brand. this is to say, if you paid sticker price, are happy with the deal, then for you it is a good deal.

for others, some reasons for paying sticker, buyer wants that vehicle. dealer may be the only one around with in a lengthy distance. dealer won't be able to get that paticular combo for a few months ect.

hemi510 accept my apology if i came across in an offensive way.

Price versus cost of vehicles is discussed every day on forums. Ideally these discussions take place before purchase to avoid costly mistakes.

I'm surprised that anyone didn't catch my mistake about writing off a gifted truck to your children for college because you can't and I stand corrected. I checked into this at work today but you can if it is bought as a company truck as in my case a new 92 and 93 Astro van, and new 98 and 99 Silverado and you can write off the whole cost...tax included but not interest (but you can write off the depreciation). About cars for your kids, you are allowed up to 20k as a gift for for your kids that are tax free interest. And then you can write off the depreciation provided it's still in your name of course which most parents do until their child is out of the house...so I was told. Now that we all understand each other, there's over 5000 hits on this thread and growing. I'm sure that Chrysler will pick up on these numbers sooner or later and work something out. In the mean time, those of you with the droan issues, keep it going and don't give up hope. And for peeps with loud mufflers, you can always go back with your stocks to tone it down some if it bothers you that much. Huntergreen, no hard feelings here so don't shoot me, lol...same goes for you houndog but you might want to slow down on the raw meat, it makeshu mean bro, lol...peace out! Drinks on me everyone!
