MDS TCC Droan Shutter issues: response from Dodge
I don't know how you were raised or who taught you finance but go and resell anything or look up a vehicle on KBB,trade it in and so on.etc.Taxes,financing is NOT the purchase price.Buy a home, same thing. It may seem like it is but its not. The seller dosen;t give a rat what the money to buy his item at his price cost you or not.The seller does not care if you get money at 0% or 25% from the loan shark in the next neighborhood. As far as raining on someone who exaggerates the price he paid for a vehicle oh well. Its done everyday on many car/truck forums.95% of the readers know the truth.Same with exaggerated fuel mileage claims. It stands out blatantly.Someone always calls their hand on that one.
Well Bubba the SELLING PRICE of a item is totally different then the overhaul cost. The SELLING price of the truck in question is NOT 50k.You are confusing PRICE(selling price) of a item with COST is the price with ancillary charges such as tax, loan interest etc.A home listed on MLS is the asking price. Then again they don't give a rat what it cost you to buy. These exaggerated prices thrown out are only by a very few on these forums.Obviously everyone else GETS it and knows that that amount is BS.Same as the select few who get 35mpg.I've been reading these forums for years.Once in a while you get one that screams his vehicle is junk and he got took for 50million dollars when every one else paid $25k. If I offended anyone by calling it like it is OH WELL.If I drove this into the ground well just look at what my handle is.I hate BS,facts are facts not made up to satisfy the select few.
houndog is right, the selling price of the truck not the same as cost of ownership, sellling price 25000.00. that is the cost to buy, 25000.00 + sales tax +interest (over length of finance period) + cost of repairs and mods and maintenance= cost of ownership. look at the truck as one product, then you purchase financing, another product + any thing else you want add, another product. so 25000.00 sell price of truck+product A + product B does not change sell price of truck.

awesome way of wording, says pretty much what i wanted to say, i just have a harder time putting it to words. Thank you for adding some insight on what i was trying to get at. Yeah yer right, nobody in this post mentioned they paid $50k, hounddog was the one that said that people were. (and people DOOO pay 50k, it just wasnt the case here) I dont know why he would say that to begin with when we were talking about MDS to start with...its like he`s rubbing their nose`s in their own misery that they paid alot a money for their trucks i guess. Just because he bought HIS truck cheaper than most did or can, dosent give him the right to belittle others. Hounddog is definatley confusing selling price vs final money spent in the GRAND TOTAL purchase....BIG BIG difference between the two. For sure, the grand total comes out of your wallet, taxs and intrest included. I guess he has someone else paying that out for him so he dosent have to include it into what he pays for the grand total.
Hounddog, this is for you and your huntergreen pal.
I will give you a rough example of how most people look at owning a truck these days. Alot of people pay FULL sticker (and i did, so what...!!!) The price will also depend on WHEN you buy the truck (begining of a new model yr vs end of a model yr clearence) What you`ll see below is pretty much my truck and what it cost me to buy. Its NOT 50k as you try to bash on people about, but its close enough. Yeah i paid what i paid, and thats my gripe to bitch about if i want to...and i certainly didnt even mention it here in this post until now, because i KNOW ther`s people like you that feel they have to bash people because you think you got a better deal (i dont give a ratsazz what you paid either, my total truck purchase wasnt out of YOUR pocket) I think the price of these vehicles today are wayyyyyyyyy over priced for what you get. But my final point is, final price is final price and i dont care what you think it should or shouldnt be. If you bought yours for next to nothin, good for you, but dont acuse, bash, tell other people that they are wrong for what they paid out to buy it just because you think tax`s and intrest arent counted in the end price, that money HAS to be accounted for, its money you earned and had to pay to FULLY BUY THE TRUCK...!!!!!!!! Nobody is saying its worth what they paid, its what it cost them to buy it...!!! Everybody see`s the real picture at the end result out the door of what they pay. (the sticker is the starting point of the deal, NOT the end result of what you pay out) If they dont account for tax, intrest and such, then they obviously make more money than they care about. We arent talkin about the sticker price here, we are talkin about end result of the deal to drive that truck down the highway and purchasing it, tax`s AND financing included,(and whatever else you purchased with the deal/contract) its STILL money you have to spend to get that truck out of the dealers lot if you want it.
2010 Dodge Ram1500 Hemi 4x4 QC Sport
$43,000 (Sticker MSRP)
$-1,000 (GMAC rebate)
$42,000 (Price of truck)
$00.000 (Trade-in)
$+1,500 (ext warranty)
$+3,480 (Sales Tax 8%)
$+2,000 (approx intrest)
$48,980 (Grand Total) This is what the truck cost me to buy
Whoop`s, i forgot, i shouldn`t have added in the $6980 in there, that dosent account for anything...sorry hounddog/huntergreen.
HOUNDDOG, (and HUNTERGREEN)
The extra $6980 into "my" purchase does NOT make my truck worth more, its hard earned money i had to spend just to buy it, and it has to be accounted for, in which now brings my grand total price of $48,980.00 This truck needs to be as perfect as possible for what i paid out to buy it. Dam right if ther`s somethin wrong with it, i`ll bitch if i want to, and so will others, its THEIR right for what they paid...!!!!! When somethin breaks on YOUR cheaper priced, no tax, no intrest truck, dont bitch bro, you didnt pay what we paid. Does that sound fair to you...???? I didnt think so.
Soooo HOUNDDOG/Huntergreen....now as you can see above, i paid out almost 50k to get my truck. The "grand total" comes out of MY pocket. Does it still look exaggerated to you, about spending 50k...???? At least i was fortunate to get a very low intrest rate. Now concider the people that cant get a low intrest rate, (and/or upside down in the loan, its still money you have into the truck) and the price they invest into buying the truck can go well over 50k in some case`s if you buy the top of the line. So ther you have it, thats how people can payout an easy 50k out of their pockets to get a truck today, EVEN if you say its bullsht that they didnt really pay 50k. I bet when you look at your paycheck at the end of the week, you look at the gross amount, dont you...!!! The rest of us look at "take home" just the same way we look at what a vehicle is going to cost at the end of the week to take home. Net vs Gross/Gross vs Net, just depends on what you`re lookin at. Its all about what it ALL comes down to in the end...!
End of story...!
Hey, did i mention, i put a couple of those little blue pills in the gastank...???? It gave my truck the biggest set of *****...hehehehe
Oh, and now my truck sounds like a bull snarling when the MDS kicks in...HEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEE

first i wasn't trying to stir the pot or get under anyones skin, i was only trying to say there is a difference between the sell price of truck, and/ plus the cost of owning the truck. i think we are are discussing semantics.
second, i only read the first page of this thread and the last before i posted.
third, i would never comment on anyones purchase, other than "nice truck" regardless of weather i agreed with deal, color, engine or brand. this is to say, if you paid sticker price, are happy with the deal, then for you it is a good deal.
for others, some reasons for paying sticker, buyer wants that vehicle. dealer may be the only one around with in a lengthy distance. dealer won't be able to get that paticular combo for a few months ect.
hemi510 accept my apology if i came across in an offensive way.
