OOOOHHHHH!!!! I forgot about that, I was thinking the 3 year / 30,000 mile. Thank you for correcting me, now I feel better. That is why I joined this forum, it always seems someone always has a heads up. TRX4

I filed a complaint 2 years ago. I now have about 32k miles with only occaisional light towing. Here is the original thread and a picture of the truck with the driveshaft hanging. The dealer replaced the gears and driveshaft and it has been perfect since. Just like it was before it fell apart the first time.

The NHTSA Action Number: PE12021 (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...12021-6895.PDF) is only addressing the 4WD units - even Consumer Reports brings this out.

But previous posts indicate that 2WD owners have also had this issue.
I hope they don't narrowly focus on just the 4WD for investigation.

Question for Mumbojumbo22 - what differential did/do you have? the 3.21/3.55/3.92LSD?

Angry

In a thread a few down under someone had their 3.55 replaced and that is an open rear end. Thanks for the link you gave above. Hopefully a recall will ensue, it sure has me concerned.

Anyone know whether this issue is limited to just a certain rear end, like the 3.55 or 3.92?

When I read the autoblog article on my droid it stated they did not know if the affected 1500 were 2wd or 4wd, and also stated they do not know what gears ratio is affected, maybe someone here might know more than me.

I got tired of the run-around at the dealerships with trying to get this rearend fixed... so i finally contacted NHTSA, now they have one more complaint filed against chrysler for bad differentials. They returned my call the very next morning. We`ll see how it goes from here. Its to bad that it had to come to this, but chrysler NEEDS to own up and FIX THESE DAM TRUCKS...!

That tells me one thing, ther`s boat loads of rearends getting fixed right now and they`ve run out of parts.
