How does that compare to the Cooper LTz's? Just curious, just bought a set of the Falkens at $136 EA, thanks.
Backwards. 115 is the Load rating. H is the Speed rating.

115 is 2679lbs
H is 130mph

Here's a rating guide: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=35

115 Load rating is just fine. If you are hauling a camper, then it's borderline and you will see some "wagging" because of the sidewall flex. I'm sure I'll see more flex on the newer 115 tires than my LTZ's which were 119. Shouldn't be too bad because i never tow or haul more than the truck is rated for.

Those tires are a street tire, so they have a less bulky lug pattern. You would actually see less wagging than an A/T tire because of that fact.

Thank you for correcting me, I got it now. I do a little towing from time to time but its only about a 5000LB TT fully loaded.

Yeah, you're fine. Just keep your tongue weight as recc'd and you'll be just fine.
5k is nothing. If you have weight distro system, it's even better.

btw. These trucks came with 114 tires from the factory. So, you have 160lbs more capacity combined with the 115 rating. That and your ~4k Lbs less than max towing weight.

Congrats! You really can't go wrong with that choice.

Mods, please stop moving these threads around. Something like tire advice is certainly appropriate for the higher '4th Gen Tech' section. The sub-section doesn't get nearly the traffic.

UPDATE: Michelin LTX AT2's on Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab.

Okay, the tires are on! THEY ARE a good looing tire on this truck in my opinion. And, the stock 275/60/20 seem to fill the wheel well just fine.

I drove a little over 50 miles today. The tires are darn near silent. Very quite. A bit stiffer ride, and not so hot on the black ice we have here this morning. I did a bit of slipping and sliding - but I expect that on ICE.

This is a very initial assessment. Let me do some more driving in various conditions and get back to this thread. I just wanted to do a quick update. I am very excited about these tires.

Default re: update

You may want to check the tire pressure. When they set the bead on the rim they inflate them to maximum pressure, likely 44 psi. When I put new tires on my truck I drove off with them like that. They should set them to normal operating pressure but I waited while they did the work and must of forgot in their effort to lessen my wait time.

Default Update: Michelin LTX AT2's

Michelin LTX AT2

Hello everyone!

I wanted to come back and update this thread regarding the Michelin LTX AT2's.

Recap: I bought my 2012 Dodge Ram brand new in 2012. It came with a set of Goodyear's on it. These tires lasted about 50k miles and then they needed to be replaced.

I turned to this forum for advice on which tires I should look into, since I drive a ton of miles each year, I live in Michigan, and I wanted something all season - all terrain'ish.

After careful consideration, reading many reviews, I decided on the Michelin LTX AT2's and boy, I am glad I did! These tires were awesome.

Time Line:

January, 2014 - I put on the Michelin LTX AT2 set of tires. Truck Mileage was about 50K or so at that time.

November, 2016 - Time to replace tires again. Truck Mileage is 140K.

These tires gave me about 34 months of use - and - almost 90k miles. I probably could have gotten away with a few more months before replacing, but we are heading into winter and I wanted to have a fresh set of tires before our first snow.

Because I had such a good experience with this last set of tires - I decided it was a no brainer to choose them again - so I did!

I had them installed a couple days ago and felt it necessary to track down this thread from 2014 and updated it - in hopes that sharing my experience will help others make an informed decision.

Michelin did a great job on these tires.

In my opinion, the tires were great in the snow, on wet pavement and held like glue on dry pavement.

I don't think any tire is great on ice, although I have no complaints on how these tires treated me in icy conditions.

I don't have any experience in mud, as I didn't drive my truck through any substantial mud... yet!

In closing, I just want to say that if you are considering tires - seriously consider the Michelin AT2's. I was very happy with them myself and just put a new set on the same truck!

I am glad you like the Michelins. Unfortunately, I am going to have to disagree with you on a few points.

The tires are great on wet pavement and dry. They also get pretty good MPG for A/T tires. However, I have come to the conclusion that they are not really A/T tires, but an aggressive all season tire.

They are one of the worst tires in snow I've ever had. The only tires that I've had that were worse were the factory Goodyear tires. Put them up against a decent A/T tire like the Hankook Dynapro ATm or Nitto Terra Grappler, and there is no comparison. While Michelin does make some good tires, and the positive reviews made me hopeful with the LTX AT2 tires, these were a huge let-down for me.
