I don't know. I had a shop do it on my '07 after someone hit my truck in a parking lot. I just remember it costing about $170 with cap and labor, but that was at a very expensive body shop. I'm assuming if you got the glue you could do it yourself.

I have not seen any of those either. Does anyone know where we can get those for less? Preferably half those prices? I like the first and the last ones.

I was upset too when I found out they were hubcaps!! Interestingly enough I didn't notice for 2 weeks after I bought it, and no one at work has even noticed either. Everyone thinks they are rims.

I'll keep mine till the tires wear down and get some custom 22 inch wheels to spruce up the look on my Sport Quad Cab. The ones from Dodge are expensive.

They're not hubcaps - there is a huge difference. I'd say 99% of the general population won't know and 75% of Ram owners also won't know that the rims have chrome clad plastic covers on them.

Btw, I just ordered me some Cooper Zeon LTZs in 305/50/20. They're coming in from Dallas and should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Sobo took the whole hubcap thing to literal that last post. LOL! They are plastic covers for our rims aka hubcaps.

You could just get a small 1 gallon bucket from Home Depot, you can fill that up in your sink and put a squirt of dish soap in there, wipe the wheels down with a sponge and wipe 'em off with a towel. Now you're good to go!

Mild soap and water will do the trick. I wouldn't put any chemicals on the wheels. Over time it probably will dull the finish, and since the plastic part is permanently attached to the aluminum backer, they might not be as easy to replace as people think.

i started a thread about this issue here:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen...ad-wheels.html

honestly, you guys are making to big a deal over this. at first i nearly shat too.

the more you look around, the more you notice that almost every brand new vehicle with the ultra shiny smooth chrome are clad.

seems to be the new trend.....

on the 3rd page of the thread i've posted there is a link to a website that goes into more detail.

It's interesting that that website doesn't sell the chrome clad rims. I wonder how much they'd be if one had to be replaced because it was bent or damaged in an accident. Anyone know?

DO NOT USE dishsoap on your wheels. It's meant to cut through grease and other things and in the same fashion it will cut through any wax/polish you have on your truck, can damage the clearcoat and can also damage the coating on your basically plastic covered wheels. It might not happen after 1 or 2 uses, but it will happen over time. Just use some basic car wash product or a chrome cleaning product.
