You can always replace the cover on the wheel. It's not that expensive at all. Much cheaper than a new wheel or even fixing a real chrome wheel. How do I know? I had to have one replaced on my '07. Under $100 from an expensive body shop and it looked good as new.
Btw, to me that makes sense. They probably expect truck owners to mess up their wheels much more often than someone in a Charger or Challenger and this is a cheaper alternative to fix messed up wheels.
No wonder I've been buying German cars since the 80's. Chrome clad wheels... never heard of such a thing until today. And I was thinking of getting an '09 Laramie. Now I'm going to have to look at the '09 F-150.

I'm going to disagree with you on this one. If you like the plastic wheels, I'm fine with that, but I don't think for one minute that Dodge went with plastic wheels because they thought they were giving us a wheel that was easier to repair. I think they did it to increase profit, plain and simple.
