I am not backing out, I want my truck.

If your truck is not in production you will be waiting until the 2010 models come out.

Here is some info for those that may have a truck on order.

If your truck order has been placed and you have your VIN, but it has yet to start production (D status if I recall) it is not going to be built. They will sit and be built as a 2010 model. At a minimum the lines will be shut down for 60 days.

If your truck is in production it is possible it will be completed and shipped. I will know for sure tomorrow.

This is up to the minute (OK 60 minutes). I just talked to the big cheese at my dealer who had just got off a conference call with this info. There is another call tomorrow to explain for sure what is happening with in production vehicles. I will update tomorrow.

Where is my truck? As of yesterday it is in framing, so I am still in the game, although it is the bottom of the 9th and 2 outs, but I have men on base!
Evidently the Dodge City (Warren, MI) truck plant worked this week also. I read on Detroit News they sent everyone home today as a supplier refused to unload a shipment of parts. One of the drawbacks of just-in-time chaos! This is odd as we can't make the 660 transmission cases fast enough. It's hard to believe they have that many built transmissions sitting there when we have been critical on these.

I ordered my truck two weeks ago. I felt my truck wasn't going to even be built after what has happened today. So I called today to cancel my order and the dealer I'm working with told me that they could cancel. But that the truck now has been updated and has a estimated complete date of May 11th. I was so excited for this truck, but now with what has happened I'm not sure what to do. Am I getting worried over nothing?

Hmm, that is a unforseen issue on my end with reguards to my truck making it through the line. Why would anyone supplying parts give them anything now. They likely will not see any $$ for them.

The government approved $5 billion for the suppliers, so hopefully that will help.

I wouldn't worry over it. The warranty is guaranteed by the government. I purchased a bumper to bumper lifetime warranty when I got my truck for $1975. I believe it was called MaxCare. I think it is underwritten by an insurance company, but not 100% sure. It wouldn't surprise me if the government stepped in and ordered the suppliers to deliver the parts. They approved $5 billion for the suppliers. If this is the case, I would expect Chrysler to continue production at least for ordered units or whatever is selling the best. I read somewhere today that they may not close all plants during bankruptcy. The word at our plant today is 4-6 weeks down starting Monday. We were already down this week and were scheduled to return Monday. We make the transmission cases and the aluminum internal parts.

Here is the link to that article. It was the Detroit Free Press not Detroit News. http://freep.com/article/20090430/BU...ting+3++plants

Normal is like 2 days or so max. I know they build a minivan in 24 hours or less. Well that was when they were working 3 shifts.
