Complaints about your 4th gen?
Those were the going prices back in 02/09 around Central Texas. Maybe I got 3k better than most, but pretty much everyone was getting 12k off a Laramie. I negotiated extra hard, found a desperate dealer where the truck had been sitting for 3 months and had some small business extra rebate.
Well I have a big complaint,at 7200 kms. my motor went a defective part now all Chryslers will do is repair it but once they do that when the dealers punch in the vin # the truck is like the plague nobody wants it,listed for $53000 5 months ago it's been in the shop over a month of that time now they say all it is worth is $22000 because it has a replaced engine as of right now Chryslers is saying they won't do anything for me,I am not settleing for that answer I will keep you all posted on how I make out. That is not just one dealer either all of them in my area are saying the same thing .
Dealer is bendng you over, new engine has nothing to do with it. Its not like body damage, matter a fact a truck with a new engine after X amount of mile is worth MORE to a lot of people. If it was installed properly anyhow. Its still covered under the factory warranty, unlike body/frame damage, so why is it worth less?
Sticker price means nothing though, mine stickered for 46K, paid 38K, thats about normal around here for these. If I went to trade it in today I would probably get 27K for a 2010 with 4K miles on it. These days all the rebates and discounts reflect into the trade-in prices so its not like it used to be. When lot of people get 10-12K off of list price new thats just the way it is..
Its the price you pay for buying a car new and getting rid of it soon after. If you still like the truck I would just keep for a few years and at least get your money's worth out of it.

They don't put a new motor in the 09 they give you a block and piece it all together no crate motor available for the 09's.It is not one dealer it is all the dealers in my area are saying the same thing the truck is flagged when they punch in the vin# and that it is worth alot less because of it.
Unless of course they voided your powertrain warranty for abuse or modifications, then no dealer will touch it with a 10 foot pole.
Or you are trying to get Dodge to buy it back, if thats the case then thats a different story, thats not an easy thing to do.
Doesnt matter if the fixed or replaced it, like I said its not like body damage that can never be put 'as new' again like an engine/trans/differential. They are just giving you an excuse to lowball your trade IMO. So basically the dealers are telling you if they fix the car its worth less? Time to switch dealers or brands IMO. I worked as a warranty administrator for Ford motor company for many years and while any dealer could look up the service records, having an engine replaced/rebuilt is hardly a factor come trade in time. Especially on something with such low mileage.

No it wasn't abused a part in the engine was defective, all I am asking for from Chrysler is a fair price for my truck I don't think I should lose $17000 for 5 months of use with very little milage on it.My wife won't even drive the truck anymore after it quit without warning leaving no power stearing or brakes we were lucky it wasn't at a high rate of speed.I would try to sell it private but too many people know of the truck and all said they wouldn't buy it after what its been through.Even the mechanic working on it said he wouldn't want it with the work thats been done on it.
I agree that the price drops when you drive it off the lot but with my discounts I paid $39000 for my truck was told that because it is a clean truck if it were not for the engine being replaced it would fetch top dollar.I think $17000 for 5 months and 7200 kms. is a bit much.
So 15% would have been around $6000 I could live with that they are all knocking it down 3 times that much.I don't agree that anyone should have to bite the bullit and live with it car companies have to start to be more accountable for their products.I buy a new vehicle every couple of years for myself and am in the market for a new car for my wife, if they would have handled this better I would have bought from Chrysler again but probably not.I guess most don't agree and don't mind being screwed over but I won't,i've said enough thats the way I feel I hope no one else ever has this problem because it is frustrating.
