Default Outside Temperature Gauge...

The weird thing about my 2009 RAM is that it takes the temperature gauge a long time to update to the current outside temperature. Let me give you an example, if I drive to work in the morning and it's 35 degrees on the gauge when I start the truck after work when it is warmer, it will still read 35 degrees and doesn't update for about ten minutes... Does that happen to anyone else?

Mine is now doing it. As mentioned there is a fix. I am just waiting for time to take it in for an o/f change and have the dealer address the issue.

Thanks guys. . . this wasn't something I ever really paid any attention to, until someone had to point it out. Now I notice mine does it too and I have to get it fixed! Gee thanks . . .

Sounds like a bad sensor. Mine has not acted up yet, but I have less than 800 miles on it.

Mine has done the same. What does the dealer do to fix it.

Mine also does this too. Yes, what does the dealer have to do to fix it?

Good to know that the dealer can fix it. Is it a sensor that needs to be replaced?

I started another thread several weeks ago about this. There is no fix for what you are talking about. Chrysler says that they intended for it to take several minutes to avoid inconsistant readings. I think that is a bunch of crap. The "fix" is for readings that are off by 20 or 30 degrees and stays that way. It is replacing the windshield fluid sensor and wire harness because it shorts out in the fluid due to an O-ring failure. This will not fix your delayed, but accurate OAT reading. This really sucks. How do you screw up something so simple that you have had working fine for 15 years on every pick up, car, and minivan. If you turn your truck off and it is 40 degrees and you go back out several hours later and it is 70 degrees outside, it will take about 10 minutes to reset and it will count up one degree at a time until it reaches 70. It is absolutely insane, but they say normal. I say POS.
