The factory amp is on the driver side of the dash behind the headlight switch.

As for the replacement Kicker amp it does plug directly into the factory harness, but not much is gained unless you use the kicker speakers as well since the amp has crossovers and EQ that are setup for them. I am still throwing around the idea of getting the Kicker amp with my infinity speakers since some of the traits of the Kicker speakers will be true with any aftermarket speaker when compared to stock (brighter highs, stronger and sharper mids, better handling of bass)

I am with you, I have the cheapest radio and speakers and they rock pretty good. I know they could be much better but really if I was doing like I used to, using my truck for work I was spending 15 hours a day so I had killer sound. This was years ago when I had more money than brains. Oh well, I will update to the KIcker system including speakers and maybe a sub but I really don't feel the need to boom boom everything.

Im wanting to upgrade from the premium as well. I tangled with my 04 Durango w/ Prem before and got into ALOT of trouble with the CAN-BUS signal processing. But I was changing the stock head.

With this one I want to keep the OEM Nav unit but I want to get WAY more jam out of this thing. The factory sounds alright and all but I find its just not loud enough... (don't throw rotten tomato's at me Im a drummer and pbly half deaf anyways)

Id like to install a one does all amp (not sure how many channels I need yet Ive haven't actually counted the speakers)

ALL the speakers I want to replace. I like JL myself.

But how do I PROPERLY get the signal from the OEM deck to the aftermarket amp (RCA?) Ive used Metro products before.....not thrilled to say the least, the Durango unit fazed in and out and that was after having 2 units bad in the box...

Im a pefectionist so I REALLY don't want to hack this truck up.

Also I tried to pop the OEM sub out to take a look in the box and It wont come out..the Phillips screws for the whole box just spin (loose nuts
underneath)

Also have a myGIG lockpick installed if that helps (this is another unit that needs some refinement)

Any input would be good, thanks!

I put 3 infinitys up front in the dash. OEM has no real tweeter. Put an 8" MB Quart in the sub box. Sounds cleaner and a touch more thump. Sub is about 2 ohm so dont go higher. It kills the bass.
