Default How much are you paying?

I'm in the market for a truck and I like the Rams. I'm looking for a crew cab 4x4 sport with the sport premium package, sunroof, 3.92, and trailer hitch. It looks like this truck has an MSRP of about $43,000. What are you guys paying for new trucks? With Chrysler in bankruptcy and inventory levels pretty high, I'm guessing the deals are pretty good.

Thanks!

you should be getting at least 10k off easily. it depends on the dealer. 12-14k is also possible if you play your cards right and everything works out.

4 weeks ago I took delivery of a Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab with sticker of $40,600 for $28,995 (4X4, Hemi, 509 Watt Alpine, Big Horn and few other little things). Of course less my trade of $7200 but plus sales tax. Long Island, NY. There probably is a few more bucks to work with right now and it depends on the dealers too from what I hear. Good luck

^ I hate when people do that. 29k is not what you paid, at least you did put up numbers of what you got for trade in, but sheesh, I wish people would just post real numbers and not all the funky before/after number magic.

You got a 40,600 msrp truck for 36,195. There's better deals out there. Employee pricing + 3k incentives right now should make that same truck for 33k ish. And you might be able to negotiate from there.

I think he means that the price was 28995 before trade, ie 28995-7200=21795

It also helps to know what the "real value" of the trade in is, they might have given him more money off but screwed him on the trade....

I say I got 10-11k off depending on how you value my trade. I traded for 15,000 on a 41575 msrp. My KBB trade in good condition value is 16,500, but my vehicle had a few "problems" I hit a pheasant and had a cracked windshield

I back calculate my discount like this -

41575 (MSRP) - 16000ish (trade) - 15000 (out the door difference) = 10,575 (discount).

My TRX4 had a sticker price of $43,745. Employee price was $37,741. I then got $7000 off that in rebates and another $1141 off for the free hemi. So, I paid $29,600 which is $14,145 off of sticker. This was on March 6. Rebates were better in March.

My TRX4 was $27,800. The sticker was $35,916. I got 8k off, I guess that is decent. I had a few pricer 40k and up trucks with more off the sticker but I couldn't spend that much. Seems like the more you spend the more you save...

It's hard to really put the numbers in line if you have a trade, since it's common knowledge that they can make the numbers look how you want them, but then move them around on the books. This is how many dealers will "pay off your trade no matter what it's worth" or "guarantee $10000 for your trade no matter the condition!".
They can show you the magic $14K discount you think you are getting, but only give you $10K and then have the other $4K from undervaluing the trade.
It's also hard to look at what was offered in March like one poster mentioned, since in March they were not offering the 48 month 0% financing, and even though incentives were slightly less in Feb and April, the 48 month 0% covered the difference if you took advantage of it. Also, some people here got $2500 for owner loyalty, which they may have needed knowing the resale beating some of them took on past DC products. To that same end, guys who buy an SLT and dress it up to Laramie spec and price level are likely going to suffer a little at trade-in since the add-on for the options will not be as much as the jump in resale for the Laramie package will likely be, causing a loss on the back end of the transaction compared to Laramie buyers. If you are happier with the Sport or Bighorn though, why let it bother you.
In reality, I think the Dodge (especially the higher trim levels) is overpriced compared to the older models, so the large discounts really just get them back in line with how they really should be priced to begin with.
People say Ford does not offer as many discounts, but they also are not as high priced in many cases even with similar option levels, so they do not have to discount them as much to get them in line. It's too bad they have yet to upgrade the motor in the 5.4 and that the restyle was so conservative from the last gen since I think that hurts their sales (but helps Dodge!)
