Wheel Shake 4th Gen Ram
John I feel the same pain!!! I love everything about the truck except for the highway drive!!
I've started see more 2009's in the town I live in. I hope that as more rams hit the road a fix can be found sooner!!

I'm still searching for answers. I have to say I doubt it's the tires. My road force balance showed absoltely perfect on the printout. Yet now it happens much more frequently than it did before. I'm going to ask Chrysler to buy this back if that can't fix it. Absolutely love everything else about the truck, but you can't have the wheel shaking on all highway trips, just doesn't make sense.
Sounds great..... a few notes for troubleshooting if anyone is wise enough to turn this info into something.
1. It's definitely speed sensitive
2. Changing lanes makes a difference (wierd)
3. I have aftermarket rims/tires.... still have the problem
4. It reminds me of driving a forklift ... i.e. speed up/slow down reduces shake
5. This one is the most interesting to me. A rear balance issue you feel your butt shake. A front balance issue you feel the wheel shake. I've noticed that it almost seems to transfer from intensity from front to rear and back again. It's subtle but it happens. It makes me wonder if something causes the shake and then maybe harmonic balancing is also insufficient and allows it to move throught the truck.
Just my 2 cents.....and YES it is ANNOYING.

I finally figured out (after several rebalances) that most places that do Road Force Balancing have people that have no clue as to what they are doing running the machines. At the third attempt I took my car to the local Dodge dealer since they had the road force balancing. I explained to the guy doing the balancing everything that had happend before and I just wanted to start from scratch. He did an amazing job and knew what he was doing. The car now drives like a dream with no crazy shakes or unexpected vibrations.
In retrospect, I have learned that most places that do balancing will not start over from scratch. They just put the tire up and add more weights without bothering to remove the old weights. In true Road Force Balancing they will remove all weights, realign the tire and mag to the most appropriate position, then they will augment with weights if necessay.
Not sure if the Road balancing will help those of you with flat spots on the tires, but it did work for me. Just find somebody that has a clue!
Not bad since the dealer only charged me $70 for the balancing, and a lot more for the new truck I fell in love with while waiting...
I have an 09 (ST with 17 inch steelies) with about 1150 miles... No problem exactally as described.. but I did notice lately that going over a few bumps I seem to have some "hop" that seems to at least start in the rear.. and this is at a slower speed.
I am betting when this deal all shakes (pardon the pun) out, they will find there is a problem with the shock absorbers... back in the mid 80's Ford had there twin "I" beam front suspensions.. that had a simular prob... plus they were wearing tires out like crazy... turned out to be a replacement with good quality shocks fixed both probs.
One question that has not been asked of everyone... does this problem occur in 4X4's AND 2X4's or only one of the groups?

I too just bought an 09 crew cab and after installing 20" wheels had the same problem with shaking. I have been to Discount Tire 20 times and after multiple balances including road force and 2 sets of tires and rims it is still there. I thought i was just being too **** but now I see its not just me. I will have to take it to the dealer and see what the deal is. Thanks
Well I hit the 3000 mile mark and still haven't gotten rid of the shakes. So I'm going back to the dealer to see what's next. I have a friend who just bought an Acura R5 and had the same exact problem on his car. Turns out there is a recall on the control arm bushings. Makes me wonder if there's a bad batch of control arm bushings floating around out there....
This would not surprise me at all!
Mine shakes at over 65-70.......Hunter GSP9700 soon Low speed rated tires on the R/T is a joke. The wheels are as heavy as boat anchors......etc.
Forged...up to 30 percent lighter and a good set of Nitto or Michelins......scrap the Goodyears IMHO

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has had this issue corrected. I bought my 09 a month ago and have been to the dealer 6 tims, they replaced the rims and tires 3 times and now there replacing the rack and pinion. If this doesn't do it im filing a lemon law suit.
