Wheel Shake 4th Gen Ram
Beefing up the steering components didn't work? I know they whole assembly is junk because I hit a little swale in the road and it rattled my whole steering wheel. I could feel the steering assembly give and shake pretty violently. That should not happen.
I have '09 that has 3300 miles and didn't notice problem until I put bigger tires on. Went from stock goodyear 265/70 r17 to Hankook dynapro atm 285/70 r17. I put on 2" level kit after tires and had alignment done and still have the shake in steering wheel and have body vibration. Took back to tire dealer to have balance checked, balance was off so tires were rebalanced on monday 8/10/09 and still the same problem. After reading posts I don't know if I should keep beating on tire shop or go to Dodge. If anyone has a fix I would be willing to hear about it as would many others I guess. For now I guess I will deal with it and home it doesn't wear out my front and rear suspensions over time. Its not so bad as I can't stand it but if its a Dodge issue thats B.S
I am having the same problem with wheel shake. '09 1500 4X4 Sport Crew. Went to the dealer and had the wheels balanced and still have the problem. Only have about 900 miles on the truck, it was a Jan build and purchased in early July. The dealer said if the problem continued go to a Goodyear warranty store and have the tires replaced for free. Going to try and do this soon to see if it works.

Wheels/Tires - Vehicle Vibration/Shake At Highway SpeedNotesNUMBER
22-001-09
GROUP: Wheels/Tires
DATE: Pending Approval
SUBJECT:
Vehicle Vibration Or Shake At Highway Speed
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin provides information to diagnose vehicle vibration concerns at or during PDI or if the vehicle is stored for a length of time prior to delivery.
MODELS:
2009 (DS) Ram Truck (1500)
DISCUSSION:
Tires used on the 1500 Ram models can develop a temporary flat spot when sitting on the lots and or while being shipped. This condition is more prevalent on 4 x 4 Models with 20" tires and wheels due the additional weight on the front tires from the unique components (i.e., front axle and transfer case). Weather is a critical factor and temperatures significantly above and below normal temperatures can temporarily "flat spot tires when vehicles are shipped by car hauler or rail or if vehicles are stored for an extended period. The vibration may be felt in the steering wheel and I or seat, and may be most noticeable at highway speeds, 60mph (96 kph). This may be misinterpreted as an out of balance tire.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the tires are flat-spotted due to shipping or sitting in the lot for an extended period, the vehicle vibration will go away after the tires are warmed up, (normally 10 to 20 miles of highway driving depending on outside temperatures).
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.Road test vehicle 10-20 miles to allow the tires to obtain operating temperature.
2.If highway driving doesn't resolve the vehicle vibration, follow the procedures outlined on DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT > Group 22 - Tires and Wheels.
NOTE :Replacing tires should only be done as a last resort after all appropriate wheel and tire diagnostics have been completed. U.S. dealers can contact the MOPAR
tire program if assistance is needed with obtaining any tire. Canadian dealers can contact the MOPAR tire program if assistance is needed with obtaining any tire.
POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.

Mine started shaking after tires rotated and balance at 7000 miles, took it in for re-balance and possible flat spots (build 11/08 and bought 02/20), they came back and found one tire bad and replaced, all other tires were road forced tested and indexed (matching the tires to the rims), the initial shaking was also at 60-75 mph. drove it home on the highway 15 mile drive and no shaking noted. I have a 50 mile drive to work on sunday will evaluate again.
Went to a tire shop to get the tires replaced. They suggested rebalancing the tires and trying it again. Apparently the Dealer did not do a good job on the previous rebalance. The manager at the tire shop said he broke down one tire and rotated it 180 degrees on the rim to counter an unbalanced rim. Took it out and drove it for 40 miles or so and the problem has all but disappeared. Maybe noticed very slight feedback in the steering wheel at 70-75, but this seemed to lessen the longer I drove. Still think I feel more vibration than I should at times but it is not through the steering wheel. I will keep my fingers crossed that it is ok now.
