I've noticed this too. I wonder if it's a heat issue.

Can it be a relay not energizing? or more of an antenna issue?

In a similar issue, i have the same problem with the garage door openers. I have to press the button several times before it works.

Sorry to steer the conversation.

I think the key fob issue has something to do with the relay(as stated by someone else). It must not just be the fob because some of us are having problems with the button inside the door as well.

I am sure the dealer knows absolutly nothing about this. They don't seem to know much of anything these days.

I have access to a starscan and do see some key fob dtc's set every once in a while. I don't recall now what exactly the code was. If I get a chance I'll look this week.
mine had a DTC awhile ago for RKE 2 battery low. didnt get a chance to see which RKE my main one is (1 or 2). im pretty sure the low battery is why my truck intermittently doesnt respond, and could be the same for everyone else here.

Default Key Fob

No remote start with mine, and I have the key fob issue 1-2 a week. No rhyme or reason to help me figure it out either. Happens at random times in different places.

The other day I opened the drive door and locked the truck manually. After that both buttons worked fine. I've also tried hitting the "panic" button which also did NOT work...

Could the battery life just not be that good in these fobs?

I doubt it has to do with batteries, MO. Mine has been doing this on and off since bought the truck in March. Next time it goes in for service, it is going to get looked at though. I have never replaced the batteries in either remote and about 99% of the time it is flawless. I just acts up when you never want it too.

Hello all.

I took my Ram in today for an oil change, the 09-020 recall, and told them to look at the key fob problem.

As I was waiting for the shuttle to take me back to work, I saw them try to get into my Ram. The key problem happened so she had to remove the vallet key to unlock, which then set the alarm off.

I am willing to bet that they tell me that they couldn't find anything wrong with the key fob. I'll keep you guys updated. TTYL.
