Good news Flash for fuel saver light!!!!!
I'm wondering whether I ought to get my truck reflashed or not. Mine's a rcsb 2wd hemi with the single exhaust and 3.92's. It runs great, but I do notice the mds engaging and disengaging, particularly at low speeds. I'd like that smoothed out, but not at the cost of having it engage less or screwing something else up. If there was a way they could update it and revert back to my current programming if I don't like it...but I doubt they can do that.
I just emailed Dodge again to ask them for the fuel saver for my dual exhuast. Maybe with all the dual exhuast people complaining about the single exhuast availability but not dual Dodge will get on the ball and get it done.
its damn near impossible to go back to old software. chrysler makes the old software unavailable to techs once a new one is available. theres only 2 ways i can think of that it would be possible: 1) tech has old flash files saved somewhere, and uses starscan to do the flash, but this would most likely require a new PCM, or 2) get chrysler and STAR involved, and see if they can do it from their desk when tech has witech hooked up.
I just got mine back from the dealer they did:
Recall no. J12 INSPECT AND FLASH HVAC MODULE
RRT:09-035 PERFORM TAILGATE RESPONSE
RRT:09-041 FLASH ABS
and i had them check if 18-019-09 is available for my truck they said
PCM FLASH PER BULLETIN 18-019-09 IS UP TO DATE
i dont know if they did it or not i have a cc 2wd dual exhaust 3.21 gears with a build date of 09/08 with no mds light and i still don't have it

Is it just me that thinks the dual exhaust can't really be a problem.
I just bet they have the same exhaust maifolds, cats, pipe, O2 sensors.
I have not seen, but I just assume the dual and single are exactly the same to the muffler.
This 2009 Dodge Ram does not have true dual exhaust.
Single exhaust then asthetic duals.
Maybe flows a tad better, maybe not...
I just do not get how fake duals play into a software not being available.

I believe that it has to do with different models getting different updates. Its not that the duals technically have anything to do with it, its just that the trucks with dual exhausts are models that require different updates. Then again the dual exhaust is an option with slt's soooooo.... I don't know
I have the sport with duals and the dealer told me my truck is okay to get the update to the MDS. It is my using the Witech. Maybe your dealer does not want to spend the money on the tools in case they get closed down. I am in Canada, for some reason they have no worries here?
I am also in Canada have the SLT vwith dual exhaust. Took the truck in for the HVAC recall last week, told them of the MDS update, they say they flashed still no fuel saver in the EVIC.
I just picked up my '09.
Stupid (maybe) question: The manual makes it sound like the fuel saver light comes on when you are driving economically - light foot on the pedal, etc. Not necessarily that the MDS has kicked in.
Does the fuel saver light always indicate that the engine is running on 4 cylinders?
My light seems to come on a lot, but then again, I've only got about 100 miles on it.
