Yep, pretty much..

So I just got done with the speakers in the dash and the front doors on my truck. I replaced them with JL Audio C2-350X and C2-525X. The sound difference is incredible! I was a little worried about the dash speakers, since the stock harness is very short. A bit of a pain in the butt, but I spliced in about 6" extra wire on each, and it was a cinch to plug them up after that. The stock ones are 8 ohm each, and the 3.5's I installed are 2 ohm...sounds good though, and hopefully the dash won't catch fire!

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who contributed in this thread, it made this so much easier!

I saw a list of speaker wires in one of the posts, but it didn't include the dash speakers. Basically, purple stripe is +, yellow stripe is -.

Actually, I don't even think you'll be able to keep your factory sirius antenna. If I recall the fittings are different. Besides, seem to get much better reception with the non-factory antenna - I don't lose the signal too much anymore under bridges, etc.

If you take off the little plastic cover you can use the factory antenna connection. My Sirius scc1 tuner has better reception than the stock one did, and I am using the factory antenna.

All right, I have finished the second stage of my stereo install. This is a great thread for our truck stereo and want to keep adding to it.

round one was:
RES factory HU
Alipne SPS 400 4" (Dash)
Alpine SPR-69C 6X9's (All four doors)
PAC AOEM-CHR3 for amp
MTX 752 Blue Thunder amp
MTX Thunder 4000 12" in a 1.15" sealed box

Decided I need to amp the doors, the dash speakers are just too loud.
I added a Alpine PDX 5, rated at 75X4 & 300X1, birth sheet 94X4 & 400X1.
I amped the 4 doors and my sub, big difference.

I have to replace one of my dash 4" because it was damaged, could have been from the original install(the tweeter went in and out, very annoying.) I have to fix a thump when I power on the radio, figuring ground loop. Weird because I used the same ground as before, but will mess with it tomorrow. Also, I have a new hiss in the dash speakers. Am hoping it is a ground loop, or just need to rewire them.

Need to tune and balance the doors to the dash and sub.

so here is my set up now:
RES factory HU
Alipne SPS 400 4" (Dash)
Alpine SPR-69C 6X9's (All four doors) amped
PAC AOEM-CHR3 for amp
Alpine PDX 5
MTX Thunder 4000 12" in a 1.15" sealed box amped

next step will be to replace my sub and re-carpet the box to match my interior, and then to get a new head unit.

Default ground

ok, where is the ground from the head unit (RES.) The wire spec said it was a black/white 18 guage. I see a white/gray, white/orange, the speaker wires, a black/red?, and orange/red? Is it the white/gray?

I am trying to isolate a turn on thump.

Everything else sounds good, now I really want a new hu.

Please help!

Okay, I installed a new head unit, but I have lost the FM cable, I think. I have one, but I think it is the sirius wire. Where would I begin looking for the FM cable. I have dug behind the dash alot, but cant find the other cable, be it the FM or the sirius, I only dug out one. It fell behind somewhere when I was cutting the dash.

Also, maybe I just need to power the blue wire from the scosche adapter, anyone had experience.

Please help, I am beyond frustrated.

Thank you,
Wader.

Dang, I haven't been on this thread in a while! The FM cable should be coming in from the right. Look where your antenna comes in at the top of the hood and visualize where it would be travelling inside your dash past the fire wall. I know it comes up and from the right inside the dash. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I will be giving it another go here real soon. I have found a wire coming from under the glove box, but am 99% sure that is the sirius cable, as it does not have any reception. It is confusing because both wires seem to be running near each other, then splitting up, then they end up in the same place. (I am assuming, the sirius comes down from the roof antenna, to the sirius box, and back to the radio.) I have, for now, bought a cheap antenna from wally world and stuck it in my glove box, but hope that is only temporary.

Wade
