It should work on a 2010 as it is an option for the 2010.

I am trying it on an 09.

It was originally slated for the 09 model year but they had issues with the software of the controller which delayed it to the 2010 model year.

My dealer said it couldn't be added because the wiring isn't there since it wasn't ordered from the factory. Of course, most dealers are idiots and I don't believe much of what they say. Once it's hooked up, will the computer need a reflash for the added equipment? I'd like the part numbers as well. Thanks in advance.

From what I've seen on another forum, the wiring under the dash is different on the 2010s for hooking up a brake controller...

I don't know about the computer re flash.. I would assume it would need it.
The only wiring that should be needed is the trailer brake controller harness. I don't know if the connector is on all vehicles or only if you had the towing package. And if there is a hook up to the computer, you will need a CAN Bus cable and connect it to the network. I don't know if it would go to the CAN C Bus or CAN IHS Bus.
I am not installing on a 2010 so I can't really help you there but if you added the wiring, I don't see why you couldn't add install it on a 2010.

We have figured out the harness are different but it's still 4 wire and it still has the same connections. Attached is the connector for the 2009.
The unknown part is if it connects to the computer which one would have to assume an integrated controller does.

I Still do not have mine. Dealer said its on order but doesn't know when it will arrive. They will call Detroit tomorrow to find out.

But here are the numbers in case you want to try it out for yourself. I am not installing this on a 2010 so try it at your own risk.

Trailer Brake Module for 2010 1500
56029431AE $192.00 CDN
Bezel (Dark Gray Interior) for 2010 1500
1EB13XDVAA $12.70 CDN

I will update when I have mine.

First, the elusive harness for installing a trailer brake control in your 2010 is #68049133AA, list price $8.70. This connects the grey under dash connector to a generic trailer brake control. It's truely amazing that some of your parts departments are so incompetent that they can't look this up. They are available, have been, even held one in my hand. Chrysler even sent out a memo to all parts departments about this. So if your dealer trys to tell you otherwise, he is clueless.

Second, direct from Chrysler, you cannot add the integrated trailer control to the truck. Doesn't matter if it is a 2010 or not. If you do not order it with the factory control, it can't be added later. There is no flash and they don't plan on offering one. Believe what you want but this is a fact. This is not unusual as GM is the exact same way.

I did order a bezel to try and make a cleaner install of my controller. Figured it would be cheaper to hack a $9 part rather than ruining my pocket and having to replace it. The only real issue I see is how to make the emergency lever accessable.

I gave up and ordered a Prodigy. $118 from Amazon, with free shipping.

After seeing the prices that iRockCrawler posted, I'm just as happy that I did.

If somebody does figure out how to get it work in an '09 (which seems unlikely at this point), I can always take the Prodigy out and eBay it...

Hayes makes the G2 which looks to be the best fit if you want to try and mount it in the dash pocket. It is a similar product to the Prodigy. Cost is about $117.

Yeah, I'd love to have the factory controller but it isn't going to happen without buying a new truck.

Finally, a part number, LOL. Thanks TG! I took your advice, ordered the bexel to mod mine as well. I'm thinking I can bed a piece of flat iron and sink a couple holes in it to mount the controller to the bezel and slip it in.

i bought the P3 today after calling around trying to figure out the difference between the p3 and the prodigy. it is a few dollars more and does exactly the same thing, the difference is that the p3 is a fully digital display and offers more info. the prodigy will flash a code if something goes wrong and you would have to look it up, the p3 gives the details on the screen.

trailer brakes sound a lot like stereos, the factory version fits better and cost a lot but is no where near as good as what you could put in for the same money in the aftermarket.
