The final answer on if the factory brake controller works on a 2010
I installed my Prodigy in the same chubby hole and only cut the very back of the chubby out.Pushed the Prodigy in and it looks good.My install looks nothing like the one posted.Only thing I cut was the very back of the chubby out.In fact you can remove mine by pulling it out and unplugging it and you would not know there was anything ever pushed into the chubby unless you looked right down into it.
Ya I have a couple of those old plugs from old trucks at least I did that last time I was in the garage but my kid uses whatever he wants I wouldn't doubt I don't have one but ya I wonder if the colours are the same as the dodge ones might be a clue. I think it was white, red, blue and i forget. Too cold to go out there to try to find them
Have faith guys I bet that one will work somehow I mean the factory one, if it doesn't tie into the canbus system for sure we can
It does tie into the CAN, there is something in it that wont let it work with the 09s even if you tap into into the 09s CAN bus. At least thats what the people that have tried it on the 09s say.
I doubt that anyone will come out with a controller to fit exactly into the pocket. The factory manf is Continental. Looks like they do OEM stuff so I doubt you will see anything from them. But it really wouldn't take much to offer a proportional controller in the box they sell to the factory. Just don't see that happening though.
Myself and another have tried this first hand on an 09. If the Can Bus is not connected, the controller shows an error. When connected, it just doesn't receive all the info it needs to work 100%. The circuits I tapped into are the exact same ones as on the 2010 so it has to be some sort of software code that the 2009's do not have built in. Kpevin has the controller now so we know it is working properly. Believe me, if there was a way to make it work, I'd be all over it. But what more can you do other than connect it to the truck?

If Dodge asked Continental to make a standalone accessory brake controller I bet they would do it, or even come up with a Startscan flash to enable it on '09s, but that would take a lot of letter writing to Dodge.
