True. Seems plenty of the 4x4 guys have gone to 4.56s with no issues at all. I don't think any of the sensors are screwed up, I just think that when they were messing with everything they had the key in and the battery still connected. Thus as they were pulling everything apart some fault indicator got tripped and it's just not going to reset on it's own. The reason I know they had the key in and the battery still connected is because while I was in their waiting room and placed and recieved a number of phone calls. My phone is bluetooth connected to the trucks radio. Each time I'd place or get a call the truck would try to pick it up on the speakers instead of the phone's receiver.

that is not exactly true. we had some snow a few weeks ago and i was out playing around in a big parking lot and i had all the same lights you have. i drove up to advance auto parts/auto zone and they have a code reader you can use for free. i hooked it up and pressed clear mil/cel and all lights went off and havent come on again. it is worth a try before you go to the dealer.

My mistake, I was thinking about the available axles on the CCs and forgot about the RT. Anyway, I am also thinking I may need a gear change and am waiting to see how yours turns out.

Thanks for the tip Lance. I may swing by one tomorrow just to see if they can help. I mean worst case is they can't do anything for me.

No worries Pedro. As for how the truck runs, other than the ESP problem, the butt dyno feels great. The humming/whining is starting to reduce. So either the gears are getting worn in, or the teeth are getting worn off from all the friction. The throttle response is amazing, and makes the truck really feel like it's 300+ HP it's suppose to have. Just pushing on the gas the slightest really gets her moving. I haven't hammered it yet from a dead stop to see what the Auburn will do, but that's coming shortly. I've got about another 230 miles in the break in before I can abuse her a little.

no problem man. hopefully that will take care of it. they wont use the scanner but you leave your dl with them and take the scanner out to your truck. all you have to do is follow the prompts and thats it.

The ESP/BAS light goes out when the problem goes away, its not like the CEL.

When I was having my intermittant wheel sensor problem the lights were only on when the wheel sensor was acting up.

I have to weigh in here.

4Wheel Parts in Austin installed the aftermarket (Genuine Gear brand) 4.10 gears in my 05 Dakota 9.25 axle (same as the Ram). Intolerable whine at 40-70mph. Local manager made several excuses.

Called the regional manager and complained. The shop re-installed a second set of gears. Intolerable whine was worse.

After 200 miles, took it to a dodge dealer and when they pulled the differential cover, the gear oil was so full of metal particles it was like a thick gray gel. Ring and pinion were worn down 1mm or more.

Had the dealer install OEM gears and it took them 2 tries to get the set up right. Well close to right. Still a little noise but tolerable. Had to replace all the bearings in the diff plus wheel bearings and limited slip clutches due to metal contamination.

Note: In the above process, I had discussions with with the tech specialists at both Genuine Gear and Yukon. They both admitted that their gears will whine in the dodge 9.25 axle. Contacted a drivetrain specialist in Houston, TX that does nothing but gear swaps and he claimed to be successful with the set-ups (noise wise) on dodges about 1 time out of 10 using Yukon gears.

Wow, thanks for the heads up Dakota. 4 Wheel has given me enough headache over this that I think I'll make them pull the cover and see what's going on. If nothing else perhaps they can add a little heavier fluid, which I've read helps a lot of the GM owners with noise levels. Of course you couldn't do that in a cold weather climate, but being in San Antonio it should never be an issue. I'm just afraid that the noise is going away because like yours the teeth are just grinding away.

I really do understand that all this isn't an exact art, and that nothing will ever be as quiet as the factory build, but I'd just like for them to tell me they're willing to try rather than making excuses and acting like I'm the uninformed idiot.

Finally got this issue fixed. Auto Zone and Advanced Auto Parts couldn't help me. At least here, they only had code readers/resets for engine codes. Since the ESP system is separate from the engine, the readers all came back with zero errors even though the light was still on.

In the end it was actually 4 Wheel Parts that fixed it, though they stumbled upon the fix and still I couldn't get them to understand what they'd actually done. I took it back to them complaining about the light and the gear whine. They were still dead set that the Superchips programmer had a setting for the gear change. So, without even asking, they broke open a tuner and loaded the Superchips 91 Octane canned tune. The light went out. So, the tech comes in and is ranting to his coworkers with some crap (I won't get into it here, but he didn't know I had been waiting on the truck and was sitting on the other side of some tires). I let it slide, but walked up to the counter while he was still going on. As soon as he saw me he immediately went into business mode and shut his yap. Anyway, he said the tune fixed the light and that all I'd have to do is keep it programmed and the light would stay out since the sensors on the axle and transmission are now aligned with the speed sensors in the wheels. I told him great and thanks, but said that it was funny that it worked to recalibrate the axle and transmission sensors, since from all the research I'd done there were no sensors on the axle, and that in the 4th Gens the wheel sensors didn't give a crap about how hard the engine or tranny had to work to turn the wheels. I also asked about that if his theory was correct, when I take it to Dodge, how would they not know something was up if because I'd either have to run it with the custom tune or put the stock tune in every time I turned it over to the dealer and then the light would be on. He didn't have an answer for that one.

So, then he hits me with the hook. Well, the truck has the custom tune in it, so it'll be $500 for the Superchips tuner. BAM! Without flinching I told him and the sales person that wasn't going to happen. I'd just thrown down $1300 for the gears and to cause the problem, and that there's no way I'm going to spend even more money so soon. I said thanks for finding the solution, just put the stock tune back in and I'll be on my way. They both looked a little lost, especially the technician, but he stammer off an OK and left to deprogram the truck. He came back not even 5 minutes later and said the program was out and the truck was back to stock. He then said that the light had stayed out as well, but threw in there that it'd probably come back on in less than a mile. So, I closed out the ticket with the sales guy and left.

The light was out when I got in the truck, and it didn't come back on within the first mile. In fact, it's been 150 miles since then, and the light is still out. Oh, and I have tested to see if the system is actually working. On small hills it'll hold me without my foot on the gas, and when I stomped it the other day in a wet parking lot the wheel spun and few times and then the ESP kicked in. I hit the ESP Off button and tried it again. This time the wheels spun until I finally let off the gas.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad about the whine but at least the electronics are back to working. I can't believe the idiots did not give you some comp for your hassles. They are now "experts" and will make some money on other f0lks, so they owe you big time.
