I ordered the volant CAI from a huge online store that has 10-15% off sales almost every time i check there site. it hasn't been delivered yet but i will post pics when it goes. I had a Mopar CAI on my 2005 SRT4. I'm not sure how much power it added but I'm sure it made the engine sound much better and smoothed out the engine under wot. with that said I new I has going to get a CAI just had to decide on a brand.

I want to caution the MPG talk. If you install an intake now your MPG increase may not be so much to do with the intake as it does with the warming weather.

I bought the Mopar CAI from the dealership I bought my Ram from and having them install it before I pick it up. This way, the dealership cannot give me any problems if anything out of the ordinary happens.
I've installed a few CAI's on the cars I've owned, and 50% of them gave me codes which the dealership would refuse to diagnose unless I replaced the stock unit.
I've found aftermarket CAI's are not worth the headaches unless dealer supported.
Nothing like spending $400 dollars on a CAI and find out you have to remove it because it lights up your engine trouble light on your dash.

I got the MOPAR for $389. I know it's expensive, but I feel better with not worrying about the warranty. I like it a lot so far. I also had a MOPAR with my 07 Ram, and I was very happy with the performance.

this discussion has already taken place in a separate thread, but I'm still sticking by the mopar version. It looks and sounds great, plus the dealer can't give you any crap if you have any issues with your engine.

I ended up buying the Mopar CAI for my 09 Ram for $400 even, I am going to have the dealership install it next week that way there is no issue and its all MOPAR and Dodge work, therefore I should be good warranty wise. Its worth the $400 for what I want and piece of mind.

i feel the same way about the warrenty, the dealership wants $444 for the intake plus 1 hour labor $$$$. i've seen the dry mopar intake on ebay for $439. this is something that i could do myself, but i've heard that if you want the warrenty to hold true it has to be done thru the dealership is that true?

it's kind of a touchy subject and if you ask a couple different dealers, they'll all probably give you a different answer about the warranty.

The straight forward answer on it though is that if something would happen to your engine, (like you throw a rod or blow a gasket or whatever) there is a good possibility that they may try to blame it on the fact that you were sucking too much air, a particle or something got past the filter etc. I'm sure they could even try to say that your computer wasn't matching up with the air/fuel mixture b/c of the foreign part and say that it was igniting too hot...

I'm sure some will argue, but basically the mopar design pretty much the same as other CAI intakes out there.. but if it doesn't have the mopar name, I'm sure most dealerss will try to save themselves the money by pointing the finger back at you if something would go wrong.

At the end of the day, a hundred bucks isn't worth it to me to potentially sacrifice the warranty on the most valuable piece of equipment in our rigs.
