The service manager at my dealer has ordered the "STAR case" TC and is scheduling a time to take it in next week to check it out. The fact that he ordered the part gives me hope.
Not sure how long this takes to replace but I hope to have an update late next week.

Well not making much progress. The dealer is going to have the "dealer rep" (engineer type?) ride and listen to the sound. They all hear it but are saying its normal since all\most of the others seem to be doing it. They also said that if i put it in tow mode and the sound went away, its not the torque converter. I tried this as well and the issue persists but its harder to hear over the higher rpms. The dealer said they couldn't hear it when using tow.....

I responded so if all of your trucks had a flat tire when they arrived on your lot, then you consider that "normal"? I am not giving up on this one.

I have solved my problem....

I traded it in.... after a year of unsuccessful dealer rep contact and mutliple dealerships, i got tired of it. So now I enjoy my sleep and drive a "solid" 2011 Titan Pro4x.

I was told to live with it by dealer rep... I don't think so..... Finally got rid of it.

Default Update

UPDATE! I am the Guy that started this Thread Months ago. Don't let anyone or any Dealer tell you different. The Noise in in the Converter, only during Lock-Up in 4th or 5th Gear at Partial Throttle. Dodge is aware of this problem and had admitted it to me. I fought for 4 Months on the Phone and got them to buy it back. I ordered another one at no charge to me. They even covered Dealer Fee's, Doc Fee's, Title Fee's, Registration Fee's Etc. I ordered a few extra options and of course had to pay for those. The replacement Truck almost has no Noise at all. But its still there a little bit, but you have to turn everything off and listen for it. The other Truck you could hear it loud and clear over the Raido.
So don't let the Dealer Bull**** you! It is there and it is a problem. I am the only one on this Thread that got Dodge to buy it back and again, I am the one that started this Thread. BE persistant with Dodge, not the Dealer and don't give up. Don't yell or swear at them or loose your cool, or you'll get nothing. Handle it like a Business Deal, Speak calm and don't give up. The wheel that squeaks the most will always get the Oil first. JD

I am still waiting on the dealer rep to "be in the area" so he can check mine out. How long should I wait before escalating? Its been about a week and a half.

Wow JD, congrats on your victory! I'm going thru it with Dodge right now for a HARD downshift issue within 2 seconds of coming to a stop in drive. Problem is inconsistant so, of course, dealer says it never happens. My truck also has this same rattle you describe, I wonder if they could be related??

2011 1500 Hemi.

I would not think so, downshifting is not controlled by the Torque Converter. Although it could be coming out of Lock-Up late. And of course, every Dealer seems to think we have time to make up stuff about our Trucks so we can take time of from Work, go there and try to prove it to them. Most Dealers don't really give two craps about your Warranty issue. Thats why after nothing but problems with two different Dealers, I only delt with Dodge. Hope you get it figured out.

I just bought my truck 2 days ago. I've noticed an odd vibration in the pedal, but haven't heard a sound. Is it the same thing?

I have already dealt with a defective tire and even though I have the "road hazard" package I was told I had to contact goodyear to resolve the issue. Goodyear is sending out a tire tuesday for someone else to put on. The service department manager said the sidewall bulge was caused because I hit a pothole. Really? A pothole? Maybe it's just a defective tire....

Hopefully, I didn't buy a lemon. I traded in my last truck because of a bad transmission.

Mike

Hi Mike. Funny how the Dealer always has an answer for something that happen to your Truck, that they don't even Drive. A Customer always knows there Vehicle better than the Dealer. Yes, Mr. Service Adviser or Service Manager, maybe you have that knott in the side of your Head because you bumped into my Truck, or maybe I just hit you because you such an idiot.
The Partial Throttle Rattle usually sounds like its coming from under the hood. If your not hearing that and your feeling something in the Pedal, it could be something else. And you didn't say which Pedal. Turning, left, right, braking etc. Under what conditions are you feeling it and in which Pedal. I'm assuming the Gas Pedal. JD
